So delicate and minimalist.
A Myrtle Tree stretches its branches toward the sky with a gnarly trunk covered with a bit of moss. Happy Forest Friday to one and all!

Friend is having a hard time at the moment with their OH.
So naturally, I whip out my favourite passage from any book and read it to them over a pint in a rough pub.
Heard it at a wedding years ago and it resonates every time I read it x
In an Irish Atlantic rainforest, a 'wolf' oak: the term for a tree much older than those all around.
A grandmother tree, progenitor and nurturer of the ecosystem, she very possibly grew when β even because β wolves still hunted these parts.
A nice twist on the word.

A photo I took of a little lake, with a pair of Canada geese. The trees are reflected on the water, and the surface is covered with ripples.
A little moment of tranquility by a lake tucked away from the noise of the world... Take care and have a lovely day. πΏ

We are pathetically inadequate at long-term planning, idiotically primitive in our destructive urges and pathologically incapable of simply getting along."

Yes, that was my first thought as well. It's quite an astonishing painting and as you say so different from other works by Renoir. Thanks for posting itππ
Beautiful, I love the way the leaves are painted.π
Devonport leat and a huge beech tree, near Burrator reservoir yesterday, remember all my photos are taken in my hour out near a road because of my health and mobility. The rest of the week is spent laying down between using my wheelchair to move. #Dartmoor, #Devon. #photography #disability

The stunning Iris Agate: A rainbow captured in stone. πβ¨
When sliced thin and backlit, this rare gemstone reveals spectacular spectral colors. Itβs not pigment, but a structural phenomenon caused by microscopic layers that act as a natural prism.

No bank balance can filter the air you breathe. No luxury purchase can cool a burning planet. The climate crisis is teaching us a hard lesson: without a healthy Earth, currency is just paper. True wealth is a stable climate, clean water, and thriving ecosystems.
The central focus is the intricate, twisted structure of the dead tree stump. The wood is grey and textured, heavily adorned with patches of green moss and light green/grey lichen. Its shape is abstract, forming natural loops and curves, with a distinct opening visible in the upper portion. The stump is situated on a forest floor covered in green ground vegetation and brown leaf litter. In the background, numerous thin, bare-trunked trees (birch and pine) extend vertically, creating a dense forest backdrop.
I fell in love with a tree stump.
A quite curious stump was he.
No branches to thump.
No autumnal leaves to see.
But a very special stump was he.
There in the woods, other trees grew tall.
But one special tree stump won my awe. π

Ancient forests aren't "resources"βthey're living systems sustaining us all. Destroy them for short-term gain? That's planetary sabotage.
#Ecocide isn't abstract: it steals stable climate, clean air, future harvests from our children. Time to protect what remains. π³π‘οΈ

Two Glossy Ibises confront each other mid-air above a misty wetland in Keoladeo National Park, Bharatpur. The ibis on the right lifts one wing high while facing the other bird, which turns slightly away, showing iridescent green and bronze tones on its back and wings. Their long curved bills point toward one another as their legs dangle during the aerial interaction. Below them, a tightly packed group of Eurasian Coots sits together on a small muddy patch surrounded by shallow water, appearing calm beneath the dramatic moment above.
Quiet below. Riot above.

This is a photo taken at the edge of a copse the thick trunk is in the middle with its bark partially ripped or torn off. There is a vaguely heart shaped hole half way up the trunk. Next to this is a tall very thin sapling. They are backlit by green.
I like the juxtoposition of the #thicktrunk and the very slender sapling. #bskyart #thicktrunktuesday #trees.

Photo of a drawing of mathematical art (descriptive geometry) next to a canvas showing the same drawing in an earlier stage (construction nearly done, no coloring yet). Both show how circles on a sphere containing the North Pole are projected onto lines. By elkement 2024/2026.
I am re-creating my 2024 drawing "Circles to Lines" on gesssoed and sanded canvas!
The construction is nearly done: Six circles on the surface of a sphere, containing the North Pole --> projected onto lines via stereographic projection.
