In light of the builders 3 doors down playing Coldplay for what is now running on 2 hours (meaning 2hrs too long), I can sympathise with @gmacdonell.bsky.social’s battles with neighbourhood leaf blowers more than ever.

I am, of course, not the New York Times.
But if I was the New York Times, I would take a professional interest in investigating, exposing, and embarrassing the hell out of that law firm and whatever partner made the decision to retaliate on a nazi’s and his federal judge friend’s behalf.

I’ve spoken with a lot of economists — plenty of whom I think you’re friendly with, as well as market participants, mostly in the bond market — who think that in order to take this position you’ve given up some of your intellectual integrity, and are willing to bend the facts and bend economic principles in service of the political goals of this administration. How do you respond to that view? I think that’s ridiculous, and I think that it’s very common for people to project their own political preferences onto other people. You know, the administration is focused on creating a dynamic, healthy, robust economic boom for Americans — and we’re going to do that.
Trump econ advisor Miran denies he's had to give up his intellectual integrity to work for the president and push policies most economists think are bad: "I think that’s ridiculous, and I think that it’s very common for people to project their own political preferences onto other people." Via NYT

When you make a Monty Python co-founder laugh out loud. 💕
Miran being forced to actually defend his boss’s stupidity is super revealing. The entire project and everyone in it is personalist and a ton of folks knew this long before last fall some are still only barely figuring it out!

Every factory on earth, except those located in the United States, can get the inputs they need from China, without paying an additional 145 percent markup.

Policy wonk: So is the goal of the tariffs to bring manufacturing back or is it an opening to negotiate better trade deals?

Between him and Gillian Tett, the only explanation is that someone is putting hallucinogens in the high table port at Cambridge
El Erian's comment is absolutely bonkers. The point of legislation giving the Fed independence is to allow it to do the job legislators set for it and not what the President wants to do on a day to day basis to ease his political difficulties.
Absolutely ridiculous and irresponsible from El Erian.
If you want to protect the integrity and independence of the Fed, you do not create gratuitous paths to power grabs that directly undermine independence
There’s a reason for that
Lucky he’s not a dog
I wonder what stocks will be in the Trump ETF …
Without doubt
Finally getting it, are they? That includes Dimon, though I’m not sure he’s that far advanced either.

Well before ‘Liberation Day’.
Papic and Saravelos are spot on.
I wrote this note Thursday morning after watching the session in Asia on Wednesday. I truly believe it to be a major shift in attitude.
DUDLEY: “.. The president’s attack on free trade is truly extraordinary in scope .. The impact will be devastating. Over the next six months, annualized inflation will likely climb to nearly 5%.” 🇺🇸
