Oh, for fuck's sake. I'm so fucking sick of this shit

Do authors have to do it themselves, or can publishers do it on their behalf? (Am wondering if we can file some sort of Bat-wide opt-out for all of us)

If you are an author or editor at *ANY* level -- from beginner to jaded old veteran like me, click through to the article Todd's posting about, take 2 minutes, and email them to let them know you opt out. Will save us all time having to mount yet a 577th class-action suit down the road.

I know nothing of Warhammer or Gundam (except the brief allusions to them I've come across at work and what @legreehy.bsky.social has told me!)... but I like the Nundam already

If you've read STAIRCASE IN THE WOODS or any book by any author, please leave a kind review somewhere in a proper review receptacle. Leaving these reviews helps the book, helps the bookish ecosystem, and also we are sustained by them as we sit in the corner and greedily gnaw on them like squirrels.

Want to listen to Brennan chat with @annarosereads.bsky.social about THE DENIZENS?

Of course you do!

And now... you can!

(Then check out the book for yourself - we think you'll love it)

We don't sell them, just include them with the books, but we'll happily send you some :)

Today - 10/03/2026 - BBC Sounds News and current affairs, including Sports Desk, Weather and Thought for the Day.

Here's the episode, for anyone who didn't catch it earlier

You can hear her waxing lyrical about her own "AI" use at c. 1:43

10.03.2026 16:29 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

Lovely that the SoA has done this, but I'm not quite sure, given the apparent mission of this book, why they sent an enthusiastic "AI" user on the Today show to talk about the many ways she uses plagiaristic LLM extruders in her fiction "research"?

Tracy: you're literally stealing our books

10.03.2026 16:27 πŸ‘ 7 πŸ” 1 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

Good news though: they also got an enthusiastic "AI" user to go on the Today show and talk about all the ways she uses LLM extruders in her "research"!

10.03.2026 16:24 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

Or do you consider academic/non-fiction work less valuable than fiction, and therefore fair game as training data for plagiarism engines?

10.03.2026 16:17 πŸ‘ 4 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

Glad you did that - but I'm a bit more concerned about Tracy Chevalier defending her use of LLM extruders for "research" purposes on Today

I've had academic papers plagiarised for LLM training. How do you square her position with your stance on IP infringement? It feels immensely hypocritical

I too wish Erin a long, satisfying career in a field that doesn't involve her stealing and regurgitating all our work

If she persists in this one, however: I wish her nothing but failure

clpolk.com – a fantasy writer's carefully undisturbed website

I have books.

every single one of these books (except for the newest, which is still in preorder) have earned out in print and ebook. I'd love to hit the list on the Feywild Job, though! That's the D&D nested heist book about how a bard and a warlock have to mend an old hurt to do one last job

Absolutely wild that the bugbears of a small university social group is getting wall to wall puff pieces in the national press when the big falling out over whether the uni am dram society was going to do Little Shop or Cabaret in the winter term of my 2nd year didn't even make local news
