I don't do connections any more but I think a big part of it is dividing all sixteen of the words into four groups. If you have a set of words A1 A2 A3 A4 B1 etc to D3 D4, and you find that you can put A2 B1 B2 D3 into a group that makes sense, that will leave you with B3 and B4 to match up somehow
