I wonder if the AMV contest is the next thing to disappear because those were never that well attended.

Late night before bed thought, but I wish Sakura-con had video streaming rooms again. I think the death of those is what really lowered my opinion of the con before the mediocre experience I had last year.

fujoshi are a sign of fertile soil, like a parasol mushroom in your potting soil. when you see them, even where you may not expect one, you should be grateful for their presence. it is a fortuitous sign of growth to come, and an inspiring reminder of their resilience and adaptability.

I'm glad that I broke out of scheduled blog posts. I have been doing some writing here and there so there will be more in the future, but music has been taking up a lot of my life.

From my own gigs and going to performances, it's been busy. I've also been practicing even more too. I'm happy. 😁

I think this season has a lot of great anime, but Journal with Witch is such a door breaking stand out.

It has an much heart and emotional intelligence with the fantastic direction carrying both of those already great aspects even further. It's simply incredible.

I should have posted this earlier.

Alongside all meeting together for nerdy good times at ECCC, there are also some other important things that need to be addressed.

Yeah. It was nice going when I was skipping class in college a long time ago because it was my first convention. After going to quite a few of them, I can definitely feel a lot of the frayed edges.

It's interesting to return to Last Exile after watching so much older anime shows.

I was stunned by how Captain Harlock energy just leaks out of the show.

It's also fandom things in general. I do watch a lot of anime, but I also read and watch sci fi and fantasy books and TV shows.

It's awesome to go to a panel of an author I'm reading the work of then to a panel of Apothecary Dairies voice actors. That was my ECCC 2026 experience.

Sakuracon feels like it's held together by spit and duct tape. Plus, it also skews younger. I watch a lot of seasonal anime so that's fine, but I do think hoyoverse gacha games are pushing me out a bit. Especially since I don't play those games and there is more presence every year.

I was at Emerald City Comic-con this weekend and I think it's my go to big convention for now on. It's not perfect, but it's run really well compared what Sakuracon is usually like.

Also, it's a bit of an age out and fandom kind of thing too. (1/?)

A Saturday at Anime Washington + Washington State Gaming ExpoΒ 2026 The start of WA Convention Season and Anime Washington’s Evolution (Febuary 6th, 2026) After the somewhat mediocre feeling I had at Anime Washington last year, I didn’t feel like going to this one at first. But then a coworker talked me into hanging out with him a bit, so I got a ticket the week of. This is the easiest convention to do that for as well as just traveling to it because it’s at the Washington State Fairgrounds.

Man I do feel some type of way about how aesthetically I like fighter jets and fictional military mecha, but in real life I believe the military industrial complex is a massive waste of money and resources that could instead go toward improving humanity's material conditions

The cover from Dragon Ball Chapter 70. shows Bulma holding a gun wearing a Camo Bikini top and cut off jeans and a combat knife strapped to her left leg. Characters such as Goku, Commander Red, and General Blue can be seen behind her in rectangular boxes.

This moment with Juno was as much a gut punch as the first time around. Their comment hits at both the way motherhood can deprive women opportunities, but also the anxiety that in being queer/non-conformative, you somehow rob that sacrifice of its valueβ€”the ways systemic oppression is interwoven

This seeing hand pisses me off.

I've had so many family members waste and pass away from cancer. We shouldn't live in a country that makes us work until we die.

Your energy bills cost more because of AI

Your PC parts cost more because of AI

Your job pays less because of AI

You're less informed, less skilled, and poorer because of AI

And NONE of it will ever benefit you worth an actual dime.

Zeztz was crazy good this week. Love it when they give Riders beefcake forms. Especially when they work really hard on making the sound design intimidating for it, very good work there.

Mecha in the 2000’s and ReideenΒ (2007) The Mecha Situation of the 2000’s The 2000’s was the last great era of mecha anime. This is my opinion after looking at and observing mecha anime for years now. It feels like a great combination of things came to make it happen that way. To me, the 2000’s was the last great full decade of more centralized anime. Anime production wasn’t going full steam ahead and the industry bubble was far from bursting.
