Heat-related deaths decreased 30% in Maricopa County last year Maricopa County's chief medical officer said the county saw 427 heat deaths in 2025, down from 608 the year before.

Even one death from extreme heat is too many. I’ll keep working to protect our residents as temperatures rise—but it takes coordination from cities, the state, and the federal government for us to tackle this public health emergency.

Work starts on $261M Loop 303, I-17 project 'critical' for AZ economy When recruiting Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego promised upgrades to Loop 303 and I-17 in north Phoenix.

Transportation infrastructure and economic development go hand in hand. Last week, we broke ground on the Loop 303 and I-17 interchange project. It’s just one of many critical projects made possible by Prop 479.

Data centers need to pay their fair share. My neighborhood coffee shop has to pay the full sales tax rate—I think this lucrative industry can do the same.

Today, we broke ground on the I-17 and Loop 303 interchange project, the start of 20 more years of transportation investments made possible by Prop 479. I was proud to support it and will keep working to make it easier for residents to get where they need to go.

Arizona foreign investment surges, ranks No. 1 in US - Phoenix Business Journal The Grand Canyon State ranks No. 1 in the country with nearly $196 billion of international investment announced since 2020.

Phoenix continues to attract investment from around the world. Arizona now ranks #1 in the U.S. for foreign investment, driven in part by companies like TSMC choosing to build here. I’ll keep working to grow our tech economy and bring good jobs to Phoenix.

The seven states that share the Colorado River must find a balanced way to share a smaller river—Arizona should not bear the impact of drought alone. Phoenix will continue to do our part in conservation and driving new strategies to do more with less.

I've heard from many residents concerned about how federal immigration enforcement actions violate civil rights, disrupt families, & interfere with daily life.

Today, the Phoenix City Council and I voted to advance a citywide response.

Inside Phoenix’s water system as Colorado River cuts loom In Phoenix, about 40% of the city’s water supply depends on the Colorado River. Before it ever reaches you, that water must pass through massive treatment plants operating around the clock.

AZ helps power the national economy, from semiconductors to agriculture, to the Grand Canyon. As Colorado River negotiations continue, we need a balanced solution to protect the millions of people, ecosystems, & important industries that rely on the river.
