A white ceramic spoon rest decorated with a black sheep
You really learn what your family thinks about you when this is what your mom gifts you as a souvenir from your ancestral homeland.
A freshly baked sourdough loaf, scored along the top, cooling on a metal rack on top of a glass cooktop. The bubbly interior texture takes up almost the entire upper crust of the loaf. A thermometer reading 25C sits on the bamboo counter to the left, with a 'black sheep' ceramic spoon rest on the far right.
Dat #sourdough split
It hit 13-15C (~55F) and suddenly there's life everywhere, dudes having phone calls on the porch in tshirts and bare feet, kids walking around the neighborhood π
My house got hit by a power outage, but my next door neighbor is unaffected. π
I know @tastinghistory.bsky.social is working on a new cookbook... If I have one request so far, it would be to add subheadings to the table of contents with that course or food type the recipes are. Some of them don't have English names and it's tough to find a specific type of recipe at a glance.
Turquoise dishes with thick sliced oat bread, roast beef covered in a thick garlic sauce, and a bowl of the parsnip and onion stew that the roast was cooked in.

Finally made some meat to accompany the sourdough. Honey oat bread with roast beef and parsnips ft. @tastinghistory.bsky.social
The portions could probably use some adjusting... I used half the beef (2 lbs) and more parsnip than called for, but I don't think this bowl has 12 servings of veggies.
And the focaccia I made with the cinnamon raisin loaf (very confusing smells in the apartment)
First, basic sourdough loaf. Enameled Dutch oven.
First oval loaf, but messed up the flip to pan and had to mess around with the edges. The really flat end had a big air pocket trapped and didn't brown underneath like the rest of the crust.
Sandwich loaf in a basic 8.5x4 loaf pan; made a BLT with the previous oval loaf and the mayo dripped through so many holes
Cinnamon raisin loaf. Don't think I scored it deep enough, and the temp/time of the recipe ended up a bit more brown than I expected
My sourdough arc so far
I'm genuinely curious if neurotypicals perceive anything when taking amphetamines, because I absolutely don't. There's no high, nothing to possibly be addicted to.
Getting my ADHD meds in 28-day supplies instead of 30-days like all my other pills because it's a "dangerously addictive" medication that I literally cannot tell if I've taken...
Literally just makes it real tough to fill all my pills at the right time so I can remember to take the damn pills
Today I learned about the term "jaffle" and I've never been so certain that Australia is a completely made up place.
I'll never understand people who have no shame around their media volume in public
Sitting across the laundromat from someone, listening to a video through noise cancelling headphones and I could still hear jacksepticeye coming from this guy's phone speakers

Mixed with lard and honey, that's some tasty dang meat-fruit-and-fat pucks. Would survive on these during an apocalypse.
A handful of small pieces of dehydrated beef and dried cranberries being held above a circular glass container. The dry ingredients for pemmican, which will be held together by melted lard.
Making #pemmican literally just because I had an urge to see what it actually was.
Dehydrated beef strips in the oven and air fryer, chopped into little pieces and dried a bit more. Tossed the meat in the food processor with equal weight of store bought dried cranberries.
I love the little delighted grins everyone else shares π
