Sorry. Citizen’s United, the 2010, 5-4 Supreme Court ruling giving corporations free speech rights which effectively allowed wealth/the rich to capture American democracy. My contention is that unless it is overturned, US ‘democracy’ will die (sooner than later).
The mid-terms are vital! Dems must win the House and, hopefully, the Senate. However, even with that, CU’s ongoing destruction will continue.
Unless Citizen’s United is overturned, the U.S. as an experiment in democracy is over. Maybe it already is. At the moment, every single member of Congress was elected with PAC &/or Super PAC money.
