Reality Bites.
User 'Victor Shi' tweets "Hey, Dems. Stop saying Trump cut funding for the "Bipartisan Infrastructure Act," & start saying "Trump defunded our roads & bridges." Focus on the concrete actions that impact everyday Americans. Messaging & language matter."
Victor is a smart guy!
In an alley next to a dumpster, someone dressed as an astronaut gestures, palms up, to a horse dressed as a genie.
"Look, all we have to do is walk into a bar and the joke will write itself, trust me."
Thereβs no point fact checking people to whom reason need not apply, but
1. None of them were US Army generals
2. Lee was an engineer in Mexico and did not command. Bragg commanded a battery. Hill and Pickett did not command in Mexico. None of the rest were there.
3. None of them advised in 1898
Tim Walz: "Get that person who says, 'Oh, I'm just not really into politics.' Too damn bad! Politics is into you."
Bertrand Russel smoking a pipe and looking into the camera. His expression is slightly disdainful, as though you had just said something rude. He has white hair, darker eyebrows, and a deeply lined face, appearing as though in his last 60's or early 70's. CREDIT: Topham Featurepoint
Maybe you've heard some version of this quotation by Bertrand Russell:
"The fundamental cause of the trouble is that in the modern world the stupid are cocksure while the intelligent are full of doubt."
It's as true today as then, but I want to unpack the context: opposition to fascism.
You can blame Harris for losing just like you blamed Hillary Clinton, but ultimately you have to start thinking about tens of millions of American voters who probably want you or someone you love to be dead
People keep saying Trump's rally was originally intended as his closing argument, but devolved into a hate rally instead.
But the rally we all saw IS his closing argument. He is running explicitly on much of what we witnessed on that stage.
New piece from me:

If you're wondering how some colleagues and relatives can possibly vote for Trump, look at how different news outlets phrased their headline for yesterday's horrific MSG rally. In the MAGA echo chamber, they don't hear about the really bad stuff:
TRUMP: "Joe Biden became mentally impaired. Kamala was born that way. She was born that way. And if you think about it, only a mentally disabled person could have allowed this to happen to our country."
HARRIS: Trump is increasingly unstable and unfit to serve.
WASHINGTON POST:
I may be just a small-town political scientist, but I reckon that if retired four-star generals are calling Donald Trump a fascist and billionaires are behaving like heβs a fascist, then Trump is probably a fascist. danieldrezner.substack.com/p/the-eviden...
Not single major newspaper put Trumpβs former chief of staff calling him a fascist who would rule like a dictator on the front page above the fold. www.nytimes.com/2024/10/22/u...
But the Egg McMuffin is OK, right?
RIGHT??!
Harrisβs answer here is very good and worth 3 min of your time
This made me laugh so hard I had to download it from TikTok so you could see it without even having to click through
We need the next justice department to not be so afraid of looking political that they will not act quickly to investigate and, where appropriate, prosecute these types of crimes. Because crimes against elections are crimes against all of us.
The McFib is back.

The Biden Boom is maybe the most suppressed news story in my lifetime. Our major media outlets ran literally hundreds of articles informing the public that the exact opposite of the truth was real.
Which is more amazing: the fact that America has vastly outperformed other advanced economies without higher inflation, or the fact that Biden gets no credit?
If your outlet has yet to do a dedicated story on concerns FROM TRUMP'S OWN GENERALS that he's a fascist, but you just spent hours writing up an obvious stunt and calling what Trump did "work," then you are simply enabling the fascism.
they write the exact headline Trump would want, implying there's substance to Trump's lies, because they like Donald Trump and want him to win the election.
The CEO of CNN's parent company has openly said he wants Trump to win.
Notice how every time Donald Trump talks about the violent, cop-assaulting January 6 insurrectionists, he uses the word βwe.β
Most punk bands can be summarized by their relationship to things that suck and what they think sucks. The most obvious examples, although there are many more, are:
Black Flag: I suck
Minor Threat: you suck
