oh so now you’re interested in how an elected representative body willingly cedes power to a monarch after constructing a secret unaccountable military for him. okay.

generative video is a stupid party trick. generative editing to remove people from the background of your video to prep it for VFX, now we're cooking

and maybe instead of it generating some python code, it's generating a workflow for your video editor and it's already queued up a selection of takes of the clip you described and now you just have to go in and pick out the best ones to piece together for your edit

Anyways, it's pretty silly stuff. But instead of asking it come up with it, you give it a script and description of how it should look, timing, etc and it gives you back a python script. then you go through and make edits (or ask Claude to) until you're happy with the final product

it's a tool

time to switch genres so I asked for its take on "analog comedy"

I respect the ambition at work here.

each time I've been telling it to avoid the tropes of previous scripts so it's stretching itself here into cassette horror even though it can't do audio for the tape.

I've started having it produce analog horror using the same tools (python->ffmpeg)

Frankly it's very impressive that it can generate a python script to generate a visual without any external iteration

it was pretty similar in nature to what others had posted (unsurprising in some ways - it's the same model) so I said "produce another one, maintaining the YTP style while aiming to avoid repeating the tropes of the previous script"

so I tried the prompt "can you use whatever resources you like, and python, to generate a short 'youtube poop' video and render it using ffmpeg ? can you put more of a personal spin on it? it should express what it's like to be a LLM"

(flashing lights warning for all these)

yep. and this isn’t a new dynamic. the political press loved bush for the same reason and before him, reagan. a professional culture defined by laziness and indifference to substance.

What even are ‘ultra-processed’ foods? Here’s a workable definition.

What even are ‘ultra-processed’ foods? Here’s a workable definition.

In a recent Nature Medicine article, Roberto and two co-authors proposed a different approach: Instead of trying to define what qualifies as ultra-processed, define what does not qualify.

lmao this is not a "workable definition" of ultra-processed foods, it's just rewording the problem

I would not call him "anti trans rights". He's certainly not an ally (look at everything he's vetoed!) but California also hasn't shifted the wrong direction. There are plenty of current examples of what an anti-trans rights governor would be actually doing.

oooh, do you rent a loft in an industrial district, too? do you go to gallery shows in bad neighborhoods? do you get a little thrill when you walk around the neighborhood with an open container? are you and your spouse experimenting with polyamory?

They're a symptom, not a cause. It's profitable to buy real estate because we've largely given up on building enough housing in places people want to live. Build enough housing and it'll stop being profitable.

AirBnB, investment firms, foreign investors, etc are rounding errors in the larger picture. The solution is to build more housing. Stop the endless delays, stop slashing building sizes to meet fake affordability metrics, just build build build. it's super simple!

Real estate investment firms are super clear in their financial filings about what will fuck them - it's cities getting their shit together and building more housing.

10.03.2026 02:33 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

Investment companies aren't the problem. They're still renting out the houses. It's a pain if you're trying to buy of course. They're just a symptom.

We need to build more housing in places people want to live. It's that simple. Build build build. Fuck the NIMBYs
