Americans are addicted to cars, but in many ways it's a forced addiction. Decades of policy have made cars the dominant mode of travel at the expense of others, and marketing reinforces the car as the "best" choice. This isn't to excuse individual choices, but car dependency is a systemic issue.

There is an argument raging about whether antivax parents are by definition bad. Just to point out if you’re actually working in this space you can’t just be like “shit parents, fuck off”. You have to actually listen and work with people. Politicians and the public should however (1/2)

And extra time means you can do night school, a second job, or just more you time. All of which helps your career and income (building skills, performing better at work, etc).

Yes- every minute counts when you’re counting every dollar from a paycheck. Not being late can mean so much.

To "lead" by telling a community it doesn't deserve buses moving freely, past congestion, is troubling. To tell residents that don't own cars that parking spaces and double-parking are more important than reliable public transit is a travesty.

Worst of all? $80.3m was just funded by FTA.

I’m gonna say something: some of yall don’t understand how southern poverty is unique to Black poverty in this country and it shows. The number one way to destroy the spirit of the poor in the Deep South is to destroy their ability to be mobile.

Please think carefully before you deploy “home care is less expensive than a facility/institution“ messaging in this moment because the fairly obvious next move from Paragon/HHS/CMS is to say “that’s absolutely right, which is why we have to crack down on facility reimbursement rates”

Also to place my gender studies hat on for a second: things like this only further the idea that maybe that being less restrictive on gender presentation and encouraging gender playfulness at all ages is in fact good for us!
