I read The Vegetarian in a couple sittings. Now starting “Anna Karenina.” I started of this in college and was liking it way more than War And Peace, but I had a huge reading load that semester and abandoned it halfway through. Haven’t really read a word of Tolstoy since.

Beast saying “A feat with my feet could lead to your DEfeat!” to “Hazard.” How does Fabian Nicieza write men so well?
The X-men beat one more new cyborg-looking guy whose mutant power is just “energy,” and now it’s time for X-Cutioner’s Song. I have no idea what this story is actually about. Stryfe? Apocalypse maybe?

Correction notice from the New York Times reads: “A correction was made on March 13, 2026: An earlier version of this article described incorrectly John F. Kennedy Jr.’s religious affiliation. Mr. Kennedy was a Roman Catholic, not a “WASP” (an epithet used to refer to white Anglo-Saxon Protestants).”
This is one of the funniest corrections I’ve ever read

Jim Lee Bella Donna. I do kind of like this fit. Another character whose powers are just “whatever”
We finally got a Gambit-centric arc and it’s the “Thieves’ Guild” / “Assassins’ Guild” thing, which sucks so fucking bad. It’s like a fourth grader’s idea of what a crime story would be like, even before it turns into a crummy Brood retread. Bella Donna shows up and dies before getting a personality

“It’s not every day a kid from sheep’s head gets to meet Cyclops—the X-Men’s greatest leader!” “You may discover, Bishop—you will assimilate much sooner… if you do not believe everything you have read in your history books.”
Cyclops sees about a third of Psylocke’s (new, Spiral-designed) breasts and his eyes pop out of his head Tex Avery style, dislodging his glasses and triggering an optic blasts that instantly kills Betsy and destroys millions of dollars of premium Body Shoppe work
Finished the big Nekrom story in Excalibur, which was beautifully drawn but a bit too tidy. Now back to X-Men, where Lee and Lobdell are working on their X-Fundamentals by doing a bit where Cyclops loves to cheat.

My beautiful spouse is currently listening to the audiobook of the infamous atheist fanfiction “Harry Potter and the Methods Of Rationality,” and keeps trying to tell me about it. But that’s a personal matter and needn’t concern Mr. Burke.

I don’t even watch regular shows. I didn’t watch the Neapolitan Novels show. I do not need to see a fourth actor play Dumbledore. Maybe I would have reread the books more recently if Rowling were known as a figure of Mr. Rogers-tier benevolence, but maybe not. Time gets away from you on this stuff

What does “satisfied” mean here? We have to watch the new show? I finished Your Name Here and just started The Vegetarian; I am perfectly satisfied with my life, even though I have fallen a few entries behind on the “Cormoran Strike” series due to the ethical concerns and associated social stigma

It is easy now to forget that George W. Bush had a white-knuckled stranglehold on the title of worst United States president in history. It was like Wilt Chamberlain's 100 point game at the time. No one ever thought it would be possible to even come close, let alone beat it.

I didn't like this one either. Sort of like a giallo but with kissing instead of murder, but not good in the way that sounds?

On another document: Renfer claims that language he placed in quotation marks was intended as a general statement of the case and not an actual quotation. "This was a writing technique to liven up the prose."

Incidentally, this card only costing 2 effective resources for potentially three Confuse clears and three points of healing makes her roughly as underpaid and undervalued as an actual nurse.

Looks like a David Marquez panel on Night Nurse (ridiculously OP card, by the way)
The Marvel Champions “Night Nurse” card is illustrated with a panel of Rio Morales. On the physical card you can read her name tag!
The character in the comics is white, but players are more familiar with the Rosario Dawson character from the Daredevil show, so they just got any ol’ Latina nurse.

I do wish that L&R trades were less about separating out the bros/storylines and retained the anthology feel of the original issues but at the end of the day this is a bargain for legitimately one of the great works of postwar American literature

FF pulls this trick in a few different games where you’re able to revisit these places that, because of various identity-crisis plots, you experience with a kind of fractured nostalgia. No one there recognizes you and you can’t explain what you’re feeling, so you feel like a ghost there.
