Despite the noise (don’t know why it’s so noisy) you can still plainly see the two forest fires smoke plumes on the Avalon being picked up on the Holyrood radar. #NLwx
With a high of 29.8°C through 2:30 P.M. NDT, St. John's #YYT has experienced it's warmest day since June 20, 2024. (high that day was 30.1°C). #NLwx
Our “sunny blue skies” that we expected to see across the island today are “sunny white skies” as thick smoke aloft originating from forest fires in Saskatchewan & Manitoba has made its way over Newfoundland.
Shouldn’t pose any air quality issues, so still go and enjoy the summer-like day!! #NLwx
The power of wind direction always amazes me.
Cartwright Airport hit a high of 18.5°C today before a shift in wind direction from a westerly to a northerly caused the temperature to drop from 17.8°C to 5.5°C, a 12.3°C drop, in one hour!
Now at 3.9°C as of 4 P.M. ADT. #NLwx

As much as the news and Twitter make me dread the future of society and how humans act toward each other, during this trip I have encountered nothing but the best people and the most helpful people and it has restored my faith in humanity a little bit 🥲
Last full day in Cancún featuring mainly sunny skies, hot temperatures, and high dewpoints. Temperature of 29°C with a dewpoint of 22°C as of 10 am.
Really not looking forward to coming back to cloudy skies and single digit/negative temps 😭
A beautiful, sunny 29°C in Cancún this March 19. ☀️🕶️
Pretty significant dust storm ongoing across parts of New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas with a very visible stream of heavy dust visible on satellite.
Some fires igniting in parts of Oklahoma as well.
Peak wind gust of 134 km/h reported in Northern Texas 💨
I am shocked that the mass firings at NOAA & NWS were also applied to SENIOR staff that were promoted or got a new position within the org.
My heart breaks for you all, new & ‘seasoned’, who lost lifelong careers today and don’t know what to do next. Love from us in Canada. ❤️
So incredibly disheartening. I really don’t even have the words to describe how upsetting it is to see the gutting of such an important partner and provider of data and cutting-edge research, as well as global leaders of innovation.
Terrified to see what is next.
ECCC needs your help! We might not have an official account on BlueSky but we sure do look at your posts 💫 #NLwx x.com/ECCCWeatherN...
A shocking 24-hour difference in conditions for parts of the Deep South in the US.
Yesterday - sun, green grass to today - whiteout conditions and snow-covered roads in Lafayette, LA.
According to data from the NWS, measurable snow only happens once every 5.7 years in Lafayette.
Snow seems to have changed over or is at least mixing with ice pellets here in Gander! Can hear them plinking against the windows. Expected to get to +10°C later today! #NLwx
I don’t know why the video of the radar loop processed so poorly, but here is a still image of the radar that doesn’t have the quality of being filmed on a potato #NLwx
Looks like the snow squall machine is on schedule.
If you’re going to be travelling on the TCH from Gallants to Robinsons, or through Black Duck Siding, Stephenville Crossing, or Kippens - be prepared for snow squalls with poor visibility. #NLwx #NLtraffic
While they would probably be flying under the radar anyway, CASHR is also sector blanked today :P
Satellite image of the island of Newfoundland showing clearing in the east, cloud in the west.
Radar imagery showing onshore flurries along the west coast of Newfoundland.
I haven’t seen this amount of blue sky since Remembrance Day…that’s a long time.
However, in typical NL fashion, when one part of the island sees decent weather, there is likely another part that isn’t.
The West Coast will see onshore flurries persist until tomorrow morning. #NLwx
The sun came out 5 days ago remember?? But you missed it that day 😂 bsky.app/profile/robe...
Update: Drizzle has returned. 🥲 #NLwx
Yeah it didn’t last too long. Back to the drizzle now 🥲
WHAT IS THIS THING?! #AlienObject #NLwx
That’s definitely fair!
What I mean is that I’d much rather this be rain and mild temps than for this to be 2 weeks of snow and cold temps 😅 I don’t have to shovel the rain (yet) whereas by this point if it had been all snow, I would have given up and become a snowed-in hermit.
As annoying and depressing as it is, I’ll take it over snow 😅 #SorryNotSorry #SnowHater
👋 would love to be added!
There has been a huge migration of people from Twitter to here - myself included. I’m hoping for the best that it sticks and isn’t just another fad that is trying to replace it like Mastodon or Threads were!
Satellite image of the island of Newfoundland showing some sunny breaks over the Avalon and Burin Peninsulas.
Webcam image of Long Pond showing clear skies.
Webcam image of Downtown St. John’s showing sunny breaks.
Webcam image of Winterland on the Burin Peninsula showing sunny breaks.
Looks like the Avalon and Burin Peninsulas are winning in weather today, with sunny breaks showing up around on webcams in the region.
Take advantage of it! The forecast for the upcoming week continues to look dreary 🌧️ #NLwx
Oh yeah I’m not calling them “skeets”. There are other definitions for that word already, and the two that I know about are not good definitions 🙃
