Being a bystander without any real possibility to act or offer support while an important partner is being attacked is not good for Russia’s image around the world. One of the main conclusions I have seen in Russian assessments over the weekend is that negotiations with the US make little sense.
For Russia, there are both advantages and disadvantages. US disregard for international law (always a tonic!) and a rise in oil prices are advantages. Russia is no longer directly dependent on drones and other military supplies from Iran, so the effects on the battlefield are likely to be limited.
