This is done with a unity visual effect component. That's the whole reason I had to upgrade my unity version. But it's probably for the best for various reasons.
I've been quiet, most importantly I had to upgrade Unity to use some newer visual FX. Making backward progress always hits me in the guts, so it took me a while to figure out most issues, but now I can get back into the groove finally! #gamedev #solodev #indiegame

A full week wasted on trying to get the new PC to work. I did everything conceivable myself, friends, AI, the hardware support, sometimes things jsut cannot be fixed, so it's going back. Very bummed out over this.

Well more importantly: Young talent basically gets taught how to cook fries and that's it. I don't need more people to cook fries, we have fries in abundance, thanks.
I often wonder why I find so many parts of the #gamedev scene repulsive. Today I thought of a metaphor: If you liken game development to cooking, it feels like gamedevs often forget that we possess the incredible ability to simply invent all the flavors.

It seems that whenever I interacted with a completely unrelated collider on the same object, the engine decided to cull the PS for a moment and it reset completely. My unity version doesn't have a culling setting yet, so the fix is a combination of random settings that should have no bearing but do.
This is so Pokemon... Let's spend a year building these parcours, but spending 2 hours getting the platforming mechanics to feel good? hell no.
This was supposed to be working fine, but I had to go kneedeep into "particle-science" to make this not reset all the time. Meh... #gamedev #indiegame #solodev #retrogaming
