It's actually why I've started playing some slightly older games versus the newest AAA whatever. Recently tapped into the original Sonic games and it's actually so refreshing being able to sit down and know the hours I play are out of my own volition versus what the game demands is "done."
AND NO, THE BATTLE ZONES AREN'T FUN ANYMORE. TAKE YOUR "WIN 15 REWARD MATCHES" AND SHOVE IT UP YOUR UGLY ASS.
And this is all in the name of player retention. I feel this started when I dropped Destiny 2 because it felt like working a part-time job just to be raid ready. Working overtime at a job only to come home to a game that demands dailies, monotonous grinding, and a half-baked story...it's insulting.
I've noticed I've gotten extremely picky lately with how I view games using my time. I recently tried the Legends ZA DLC courtesy of a local friend to "try before I buy," and actually grew irate with how bad it was. It feels like games don't want to respect your time anymore.

Yup...definitely got some con crud from MCFC. It was bound to happen at some point when traveling for conventions, but man this is rough. Hopefully I'll feel better for work tomorrow, but man the muscle weakness actually has me thinking twice... :(
