Many thanks to Laura Belin bsky.app/profile/laurarbelin.bsky.social for her reporting from the statehouse. She provides the kind of information I want and need in a timely manner. If you are interested in Iowa politics, I recommend following her.
A massive air raid in the Kyiv region now with the russian-iranian drones, ballistics already attacking, and the cruise missiles expected early in the morning too. Heard at least five powerful explosions.
What a crap day Friday has been. At least the sun rises tomorrow.
Friday night news dump: The Trump admin was silent for months on the fate of Title X, the program that provides contraception to millions of low-income patients.
Tonight, 2 days after my article on the looming funding cliff, they released the long-delayed guidance...with some interesting changes.

Wish it were as easy as skipping a few meals.
Iowa Republicans are "cautious" about... Republican federal policy.
They either didn't know Iran would shut down the Strait of Hormuz or they knew and didn't have a plan.
Either way - just totally clear they don't give a damn about what this war means for hardworking Americans.
I do not know the person who wrote this, but the absolute lack of analysis of the reasons behind consolidation and the shallowness of the assessment of the succession problem we face in the US is not surprising for someone who "grew up on farms", works for an ag NGO and gets a spot in the NYT. 1/
Zach Lahn is filing tomorrow morning.
To all appearances, Eddie Andrews is not moving forward as a candidate for governor. I suspect he may run for re-election to the Iowa House.
it took just over a year to get from "I'll lower costs on day one" to "I'm raising prices and it's good, actually"
Slotkin: "If Russia is helping to kill US forces, we have crossed a rubicon. We have to take decisive action on that. Instead, we're giving them breaks on oil. They're making a ton of money."

Thanks for the info. Chris Jones is a man on a mission. He was going to be happy as a clam doing what he has already been doing anyway. IMHO that's what we really need at this moment in Iowa.
Not really possible to take a "good picture" of the bloke.
Y'all likely heard this. Guess I'm supporting Chris Jones.
Got vaccinated for COVID again. Right before visiting the political convention next week. That is where I caught the COVID last time. Cheers!
