Young men are not the villains here.
💼 🔍 Programmes for young people not in education, employment or training need more evaluation to understand what works and for whom – but these evaluations are complex to design and face significant implementation barriers, write Irene Soriano Redondo & @sussumhum.bsky.social
🚨 GCSE resits aren’t the problem. Not holding GCSEs is.
There’s a lot of concern in the news about GCSE resits today. What’s missing is concern for the young people who don’t secure passes in English and maths, and what that means for their futures.
Here’s the reality 🧵

One major problem with "viewpoint diversity" is that it's only ever applied to predominantly left wing professions. No one is calling for politicians, judges, the military, the police, or the business world to be more ideologically diverse.
Powerful message to Government from the Women and Equalities Committee in their new report on parental leave published today – paternity leave in the UK is outdated and unequal. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Featuring great panels on women and politics and a celebration of the retirement of Fiona McKay and Yvonne Galligan
While the UK government is fighting to win an imaginary -and likely non existing- voter torn between Labour and Reform, they alienate the very real and rapidly growing electoral pool of first and second generation immigrant voters who overwhelmingly voted for Labour and today feel betrayed.
I guess I'll go back to Australia then...
just over the last 5 weeks, Trump has helped swing elections (against him) in Wisconsin, Canada, Australia, and the Vatican.
A graphic for a trustee opportunity at TASO. The background shows a sea of graduates wearing caps and gowns viewed from above, tinted in a blue-to-teal gradient. In the top left corner is the TASO logo in white. Below it, the words “JOIN US” appear in teal, followed by “Opportunity: Trustee” in large white serif font. In the bottom right corner, there's a teal icon of a briefcase enclosed in a circle, symbolising a professional role.

We obsess over the angry young men going Reform. But what of the anxious young women going Green? | Gaby Hinsliff
Since 2016, being British/based in Britain has been so embarrassing.

Off home after a great few days at #psa25, so many interesting conversations! I do feel like I spent most of the time startling Brummies with my London ways of always wanting to be places faster than them though...!
A reminder if you are enjoying the Women and Politics panels at #PSA25 we have our own conference in June in partnership with Southampton Uni's @gain-centre.bsky.social
⭐ Now with EXTENDED DEADLINE for abstracts of Fri 25th April ⭐

I'm wandering around #psa25 today and tomorrow - anyone else about? Great panels so far today and excited to present on female political role models tomorrow
I love America, love travelling there, and love spending my tourist ££ there. But I can't see any reason to do that under the current regime. There are so many other places to go that aren't currently actively oppressing people and destabilising the world order.
I couldn't agree more. One of the things I liked about the UK (vs Australia) when I came ten years ago was the relative absence of SUVs. They are a blight on the road and make nobody (including their passengers) safer.
This looks like a great agenda and a great networking opp - highly encourage WP & student success colleagues to attend!
