BREAKING: As many as 150 U.S. troops have been wounded in the war with Iran, according to sources familiarโfar higher than the Pentagonโs publicly disclosed figure of just 8 seriously wounded troops. The true toll of this war is already far worse than the public has been told. (Reuters)
Uh-oh.
North Korea has cancelled its annual Pyongyang Marathon, which was set to take place on April 5th, for what it will only say are "some reasons."
Established in 1981, the annual event was last canceled for five consecutive years due to the COVID pandemic.

The 51st state!
Sooner or later every year I find one of these curled up snug in one of my chickens' laying boxes, with two or three egg-shaped & sized lumps half-way down him. They're very welcome in the barn if they eat the mice, but egg-eaters win a free trip back into the deep woods in a sack.
Looks like it's time for trump to declare victory and flee
An exchange of texts between an unknown scam artist and myself. Scammer: "I expect to be in NC next week representing my company at a recruiting booth. Are you still there? It would be nice to connect." Me: "OK but you'll need to bring the $1,000 you owe me, in cash. I really need it. I'm living in a church basement since my house was repossessed." Scammer: "OK, remember to keep in touch. I will not only bring you a thousand dollars, but also some items you need. Tell me what you need." Me: "OK, I need a .45 semi-auto (preferably a Colt), 50 feet of 3/4 inch nylon rope, two sticks of dynamite, and 100 pounds of castor beans." Also me: "Better make that 200 pounds of castor beans. And five gallons of rubbing alcohol."
Once again, a text scammer leaves our brief interaction deeply confused. ๐ค

One definition of Progressive Christianity, from Wikipedia: "Progressive Christianity, as described by its adherents, is characterized by a willingness to question tradition, acceptance of human diversity, a strong emphasis on social justice and care for the poor and the oppressed, and environmental stewardship of the earth. Progressive Christians have a deep belief in the centrality of the instruction to "love one another" (John 15:17) within the teachings of Jesus Christ. It is an ecumenical movement present in various Christian denominations. It is particularly influential in mainline Protestantism, with some influence among liberal and Post-Vatican II Roman Catholicism (especially those influenced by movements such as liberation theology), and American evangelicalism, particularly the emerging Church and exvangelical movements, and the evangelical left.
Yeah, speaking as a progressive Christian myself, I catch roughly equal amounts of badmouthing from christofascists and folks like you. I get it; wearing the blinders of certainty is comforting.
As opposed to all those other candidates
I know. Man, that Martin Luther King, amirite?
So, your argument boils down to "LALALA I CAN'T HEAR YOU!" huh?
I understand that there are a lot of folks on the left who instinctively recoil from religious language, and with good reason given its use by the right.
But please listen to this, and focus on how he's trying to realign "Christian values" so they align with and advance progressive policy goals.
Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the right-wing's Captain Obvious, Peggy Noonan.

oh. no.
A chocolate-colored ridge ... rested in a field and close to the road. A cold downpour had turned the air clammy. It smelled like a rancid potpourri seeping through the truck windows, singeing the occupantsโ sinuses and glomming onto their raincoats.

As true today as it was in 1967, unfortunately.
It's true. Between them they turned North Carolina, once the shining beacon of what the New South could be, into an atavistic sewer - the Meth Lab of Democracy. Most every goper political outrage of the past decade happened in NC first, under them.
Yep. It still costs me $1.80 to "fill up" my EV with enough juice to drive 300 miles.
You'll never get back the five minutes you spend reading this, easily the stupidest and most hyperbolic piece I've ever seen in WaPo.
