Long-COVID Sufferer Awarded Nearly $1M After Employer Refused to Let Her Work From Home | Law.com
A jury in Nassau County awarded $954,000 to a longtime employee of Stony Brook University Hospital Blood Bank.
A woman with Long Covid won almost one million dollars in a lawsuit against her employer who refused to allow her work from home accommodations.
May this set a precedent.
Remote work should be accessible to all who need it.
Itβs a game changer for people with disabilities.

Rep. James Talarico On Confronting Christian Nationalism, And Strange Days In The Texas Legislature
YouTube video by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert
The government declaring some information programs to be not "bona fide news" because they are "purely partisan" is not compatible with the First Amendment.
Here's the censored interview Stephen Colbert conducted with James Talarico:

Clinicians must put more effort into autism-specific medical care
Without it, autistic adults with high support needs like my son are missing out on treatments that could reduce their suffering and improve their quality of life.
Did you know that autistic people are more likely to have atypical or paradoxical reactions to medication, such as getting sleepy from stimulantsβor amped up on decongestants? No surprise if you didn't, as too many medical professionals don't know this either.

A huge 6 foot popup sign with large white ALL CAPS type and a gigantic teal surgical mask on a dark blue background, up against a beige wall in a hospital waiting area that reads:
MASKS ARE REQUIRED IN THIS AREA.
Thank you for your cooperation.
The word REQUIRED is bold and underlined to further taunt me with every cough heard.
Sorry if my posts about the research around how Covid causes immune system damage werenβt worded accurately today. I was a little distracted by all the unmasked people coughing, sniffling and sneezing in the hospital waiting area I sat in for hours while typing in front of this.

No One "Deserves" to Starve
SNAP funding is set to expire at the end of the month, meaning 42 million Americans will go hungry. A large percentage of those on SNAP are disabled, and many won't be able to stand in a bread line.
Who knew saying βno one deserves to starveβ would be so controversial.
Iβve never received this much hate for an article.
Folks are really comfortable saying with their full chest that theyβre fine if certain people starve.
The disabled. Poor kids. Marginalized people. Immigrants. The elderly.

The CDC tried to remove remote work as an accommodation for disabled people.
Working from home is a game changer when youβre chronically ill. It allows people to remain in the workforce who otherwise wouldnβt be able to.
Big thanks to the unions who fought this, the CDC caved from the pressure

It's a developmental difference, part of the natural diversity human brains. Framing it as a disease fuels stigma.
