Long-COVID Sufferer Awarded Nearly $1M After Employer Refused to Let Her Work From Home | Law.com A jury in Nassau County awarded $954,000 to a longtime employee of Stony Brook University Hospital Blood Bank.

A woman with Long Covid won almost one million dollars in a lawsuit against her employer who refused to allow her work from home accommodations.

May this set a precedent.

Remote work should be accessible to all who need it.

It’s a game changer for people with disabilities.

When you say β€œonly the vulnerable” are at risk… you’re saying that vulnerable people are expendable.

When you say β€œonly those with pre existing conditions will die”… you’re saying our lives don’t matter.

You can become one of the β€œvulnerable” at any time.

Many of us were healthy…until we weren’t.

Rep. James Talarico On Confronting Christian Nationalism, And Strange Days In The Texas Legislature YouTube video by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert

The government declaring some information programs to be not "bona fide news" because they are "purely partisan" is not compatible with the First Amendment.

Here's the censored interview Stephen Colbert conducted with James Talarico:

Disabled, chronically ill, & marginalized communities have long histories of organizing, educating, & caring for each other. We carry on this legacy by creating evidence-based resources on Long COVID & associated conditions – check out our explainer series, made with @thesicktimes.org! tiny.cc/LCE

PM Carney’s government will need to spend millions fixing up pest-infested, falling-apart federal buildings just to force workers back to the office.

All while cutting jobs and calling it β€œsaving money.” That’s not fiscal discipline. It’s hypocrisy.

Brandi Carlile's accompaniment for "America the Beautiful" before the game last night was SistaStrings. The duo, Chauntee and Monique Ross, played another American anthem, "Lift Every Voice and Sing," on the Library's Stradivarius instruments in 2024.
Here's a clip of that impromptu performance. ⬇️

The government takes all its cues from private sector. We've been indoctrinated to believe government is inherently inefficient, but all of its worst qualities are from douchebag CEOs with MBAs.

If you want to do your part for Canadian digital sovereignty from the US, then drop OneDrive, Dropbox, and whatever the hell Apple users use, and get Sync, the Canadian cloud service. I've been using it for a few months and it's just as good as the others.

Clinicians must put more effort into autism-specific medical care Without it, autistic adults with high support needs like my son are missing out on treatments that could reduce their suffering and improve their quality of life.

Did you know that autistic people are more likely to have atypical or paradoxical reactions to medication, such as getting sleepy from stimulantsβ€”or amped up on decongestants? No surprise if you didn't, as too many medical professionals don't know this either.

A huge 6 foot popup sign with large white ALL CAPS type and a gigantic teal surgical mask on a dark blue background, up against a beige wall in a hospital waiting area that reads:

MASKS ARE REQUIRED IN THIS AREA.
Thank you for your cooperation.

The word REQUIRED is bold and underlined to further taunt me with every cough heard.

Sorry if my posts about the research around how Covid causes immune system damage weren’t worded accurately today. I was a little distracted by all the unmasked people coughing, sniffling and sneezing in the hospital waiting area I sat in for hours while typing in front of this.

Thinking about the social stigma against eating fast food in a country where poor people are being starved by the govt, the cost of groceries and fresh vegetables are astronomical, and a cheeseburger at McDonald’s costs $3.50.

β€œClean” and β€œhealthy” eating rhetoric is racist, ableist, and classist.

COVID-19 is a Respiratory Transmitted Infection (RTI), not solely a respiratory infection.

No One "Deserves" to Starve SNAP funding is set to expire at the end of the month, meaning 42 million Americans will go hungry. A large percentage of those on SNAP are disabled, and many won't be able to stand in a bread line.

Who knew saying β€œno one deserves to starve” would be so controversial.

I’ve never received this much hate for an article.

Folks are really comfortable saying with their full chest that they’re fine if certain people starve.

The disabled. Poor kids. Marginalized people. Immigrants. The elderly.

The CDC tried to remove remote work as an accommodation for disabled people.

Working from home is a game changer when you’re chronically ill. It allows people to remain in the workforce who otherwise wouldn’t be able to.

Big thanks to the unions who fought this, the CDC caved from the pressure

RFK Jr.'s tenure has been one horrifying avoidable atrocity after another, driving our society backwards to an extent we might not recover from in my lifetime.
But "autistic kids will never play baseball" is one of the most unintentionally hilarious things any politician has ever said

If you, like me, are the parent of a neuro-atypical child dreading this autism press conference, please remember: These are the people hurting our kids. Not us. They are the ones stigmatizing and pathologizing them. They are the ones peddling untested science. And we should be very, very angry.

Autism isn't a disease
It's a developmental difference, part of the natural diversity human brains. Framing it as a disease fuels stigma.

(It doesn't need to be "cured" with oversold supplements based on thin scientific evidence πŸ˜’)
