Thus, women get news not only as individuals navigating a #SocialRevolt, a #pandemic, and an intense #ElectoralCycle, but also as a means of caring for those closest to them. We invite scholars to keep studying the role of women as news caregivers in their private–public sphere

Our focus groups reveal that women actively curate their news intake, prioritizing mental well-being and family welfare in response to high-stress media environments. These are gendered curation strategies that we see as and #ActsofCare within their #PrivatePublicSphere

However, men are more likely than women to feel they understand and are well-equipped to participate in politics ( #InternalPoliticalEfficacy), while women present higher levels of #ExternalPoliticalEfficacy — the belief that the government will respond to people’s demands 🙏

While men and women have different news repertoires, they don't have significantly different news skills or information routines: women are not more likely to be #misinformed or to feel #InformationOverload, and both women and men have similar levels of #NewsLiteracy

What challenges do #women face when consuming news in a fragmented, low-trust information landscape? What are their curation strategies for news use in such a landscape? We answered these questions by studying women's news consumption with #SurveyData and #FocusGroups in #Chile

We found that most of the stories used the #PublicService approach, explaining readers how the system works. Yet, a high number of stories used #ConflictFraming, quoting sources against the system. Very few stories quoted sources in favor of #SAE - only 17% of the sample

This study looks at the coverage of #SAE, a new school admission system in Chile, to compare #ConflictFraming (reporting on political disputes regarding a new education policy) and #PublicServiceJournalism (providing useful information to understand the system) in six online news outlets
