Someone has to do the job, I suppose, and I hope that most of the people who do enjoy something about it. Personally, I could not. Working as a consumer service phone rep for Nintendo (a company I LIKE) nearly killed me. Working at Walmart or McDonald’s would destroy me.

They say “write what you know”, so I have several characters prone to intrusive thoughts and/or overthinking (some to the point of rumination or spiraling).

Two guys spiraling after each experiences one (1) negative thought is basically what fuels the entire main conflict of Sidetracked series. 💀

maybe I could be the guy who runs around a grocery store fulfilling mobile orders for pickup, but only if I never had to interact with a customer ever

ngl, I feel like the bulk of criticism against aro/ace characters in media is labeling heavily neurodivergent-coded aro/ace characters as negative stereotypes.

Thanks! It does feel incredible. Though, I’m in disbelief at the moment. Even if I know I still have a lot of work ahead of me, I really thought it would take months to complete any sort of draft. 😅

I know it was only 28.5k words, but I drafted a whole book in 47 days, and I think that’s pretty cool (especially considering I was sick half that time 💀)

Just finished the first draft of To Break A Curse.

It’s 28,573 words long.

I still haven’t decided if I want to keep it a novella or try to bulk it up into a novel (it needs a lot of work, so either option is equally feasible), but wow I finished drafting something not Sidetracked-related. 🤯

I would have to go into hiding, probably. lmaoooo

Honestly, as someone living in poverty, I’d be perfectly fine with paying a bit more in taxes if the cost of basic needs & services like electricity, internet/phone service, healthcare, food, housing, etc. went down a bit.

Lack of time & energy. There simply are not enough hours in the day for me to work full-time; take care of 7yo, the house, & myself; write/work on projects; AND market my work. I also hate worrying about ad performance, views, numbers, clicks, etc. It’s not fun & I don’t like it.
