I do like Rubber Soul A LOT
Yeah, I was like, oh, it’s one of these old knockabout comedies, not sure I can sit through two hours of this
Oh, and how wrong I was (thankfully)
Just glorious
A perfect cinematic moment as Clive and Theo men begin their duel in the gymnasium
The most touching moment as Theo and Edith react - their eyes and expressions saying so much more than words - when Clive congratulates them on their engagement
Deborah Kerr looking heavenly as Angela/Johnny
Clive Wynne-Candy’s final salute
Had to struggle through the first ten minutes of The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp but damned glad I did because dash it all if that film didn’t end up half-breaking my heart
Very basic of me but Revolver (closely followed by Abbey Road)
Sure you don’t give a fuck but I’m Down is currently my favourite Beatles song
Which is unusual because I tend to lead towards the psychedelia
A timely warning to all writers, self-published or not. I was recently alerted to my "testimonial" on a scam outfit, complete with recent profile pic. DO NOT FALL FOR THESE IDIOTS' ATTEMPTS TO SCAM YOU OUT OF MONEY. writerbeware.blog/2025/09/19/r...
Agreed. Eight years later and my stepdad’s estate is still causing enormous confusion
Gigolo Aunt by Syd Barrett from his Barrett album. The album cover features a variety of bees, ants and other insects
Very welcome ear worm this morning
How much did you have to splash out?
Good on you
I trust there was an internal enquiry after his retirement
Love it
He was a right plonker, wasn’t he?
Fingers crossed 🤞
‘Do you know what else can go? Brass rubbings, that’s what. Nobody’s interested. Not me, anyway. Oh, and let’s get rid of people playing the spoons while we’re at it’
Timothée Chalamet
Oh my :(
We were talking about Inspector Gadget only last night
Nightmare. Had a neighbour like that… until he burned down his house and five others
Album cover for electronic music pioneers Silver Apple’s eponymous first album
Hugely respect Silver Apples for being so massively pioneering but they’re a bit too much of a challenging listen for me*
*though I’ve added a couple of songs to a suitable playlist
Happy birthday!
A felt pigeon watching me. It has felt boobs.
I will felt sensible pigeons today. There will be no other pigeons, just sensible ones.
Bez from Happy Mondays, I’m hearing
🤣🤣🤣
It's all in the technique
Anyway, it’s a humdinger, even if I do say so myself

There’s also a sinister twist in the tale
I had my good friend Jonny Virgo (hip hop artist and novelist) give the story a good going over so that he could pick up any potential instances of racial insensitivity he and my other editor(s) might have missed
My version is, I think, a little more nuanced. Told by an unreliable white narrator, it describes the dynamics between two black boys - one high-born and wealthy, completely at home in his environment; the other from a more humble background on a full scholarship - at a major public school
Black and white photo of a landau (horse drawn carriage)
Amanda Donohoe in The Madness of King George pinning a lad to the wall by his fella
The final story in my short story collection is based on a legend from my school about the ghost of a lascivious aristocratic woman who goes about the grounds in a horse drawn carriage luring adolescent chaps inside and wanking them off
