As an internal Meta memo reasoned, “Many civil society groups that we would expect to attack us would have their resources focused on other concerns.” The company presumably sees a business opportunity in the ongoing assault on American democracy. That’s where Mark Zuckerberg, Meta’s chief executive, is wrong: We are paying attention, and we understand clearly that this technology is part of that very same assault on our rights. We are always ready to fight, and we will continue to defend everyone’s rights — from both the government and Big Tech.

It was recently leaked that Meta plans to quietly roll out smart glasses equipped with facial recognition while civil liberties groups like ours are busy dealing with the Trump administration.

My dad and stepmom are still married, but my mom’s second husband was verbally abusive and it was not fun, unfortunately. Made my childhood fairly fucking miserable, tbh. They eventually divorced.

My dad cheated on my mom with his secretary at work, and after he and my mom divorced and the secretary and her husband divorced, my dad married his secretary within the year, and my mom got married to the secretary’s ex less than a year after that.
