Youβre incredible Ashley. Iβm proud of myself for managing to work part time through my treatment, but youβre next level. Hope stepping back from the ministerial role helps.

I'm really sorry to hear you've lost friends to this.
Yes, the words "well you're too young for it to be bowel cancer" were actually spoken by a GP. This was 11 years ago, I think there is increasing awareness now.
The screening age should come down but GPs need to be set up to respond to people in 20s, 30s presenting with symptoms.
I was diagnosed at 32 and sadly now know lots of others who were too.
A point so obvious as to be banal, but itβs not 11 year-old boys managing major civil engineering projects either. We still teach them maths.
The chancellor should definitely have consulted this bloke about the correct description of the title and his personal belief it should mean something else. What is the country coming to?
We've got some Nesta reaction to the Budget up, underpinned by some brilliant speedy analysis by my colleague Dan Lewis.
π What does the budget mean for energy bills?

I think I only partially appreciated the mid-century style of our flat when we first looked but now would go out of my way to get it. Itβs also got a really nice community but I was oblivious to that. Not sure that helps.

I think I viewed a flat there years ago with a friend. Similar vibe to our estate. Share of freehold but check on the service charges as these blocks do involve quite a bit of maintenance, I think may have had a communal heating system like us.
Lots of βthe last thing terminally ill people care about is workβ going around as if people with incurable conditions canβt make their own decisions about their priorities.
No, it's been around for years. I read up on it having had an incurable cancer diagnosis myself - fortunately I have a very good employer but I've heard awful stories. Not sure I like the name but it is their hashtag.
It's the name of a longstanding campaign to protect terminally ill people from being dismissed or treated unfairly by their employers. www.dyingtowork.co.uk

It looks like they're also not yet incorporating any benefits from spending Β£1bn on employment support. May come in the next forecast.
I am fishing here to find out who is cool enough to have used ICQ back in the day.
Fun fact: Apparently ICQ only shut down last year.

I want a version of a Doodle poll that's weighted by how good your reason for unavailability is. Fed up of missing things when I have chemo that were scheduled on the basis of people's social plans. I'm probably being a bit unfair.
The King has been pleased to approve the following appointments: β’ Ashley Dalton MP as a Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State in the Department of Health and Social Care.
It's great to see someone living (as I am) with stage 4 cancer appointed as a health minister. Well done @ashleydaltonmp.bsky.social!
BBC headline says: βTrumpβs Trade War with Neighbours is delayed - what did they all get out of it?β Photo underneath shows two Canadians doing vox pops, with a caption suggesting they are getting βangry and anti-Americanβ
βTrumpβs trade war - what did they all get out of it?β
Ooh, I donβt know, maybe a breakdown in the rules-based economic order and a whole heap of economic uncertainty?
We look so young, the ONS are fooled.
Or the gays over 35 start lying about our age?
Since announcing my diagnosis of metastatic breast cancer a few weeks ago Iβve become increasingly aware of how misunderstood the condition is.
So I want to debunk a few misconceptions:
1/7 (short posts!)
Thanks for saying this @ashleydaltonmp.bsky.social. I have been living with metastatic bowel cancer for 10+ years and the truth is it's a constant battle against similar misconceptions!
In Mafia/Werewolf this means one player gets the power to find out if one other player is a traitor or not.
Shot of a book titled "The Seer"
Spoiler for that "extraordinary power" Claudia mentioned in the trailer? #TheTraitors
