American speakers are blissfully unaware, but UK speakers and etymologists often instinctively discover the original roots of "burgle" (sometimes just as an accidental joke), because when we break it down we know the word as
hamb + urgler (hamburgler)
and not
hamb + burgler (hambburgler?)
Their solution, as it often happened, was to add another letter, and so that produced the word "burgle" in modern English
Later during the Norman invasion, the French and Flemish got confused by the word "urgle" and its similarly to the French word "urge" since having urges does not mean you are going to urgle something.
Also related to urger is a derivative verb "urgl" in Middle English, which then became "urgle", meaning "to snatch; to take away"
Thus we get the word "hamburgler" as a name for someone who urgles hambs

Feeling better but had to get groceries after ordering in for a couple days, so it's ugly. 250/1700 rent, usual 400 and 600 to cover ASAP too, and transit to get my coats repaired. Rent deadline is Feb 1, roommate (600) now has a deadline (Jan 17th).
