Being Unemployed in 2026: Searching for a Job in Hell While the United States collectively has been trying to figure out how to navigate the ongoing economic fallout from the disastrous policies that have been put into place over the last 14 or so months, things have steadily gone from bad to worse for the unemployed here at home, including myself. Tariffs, run away inflation, and now the impact from the price of oil skyrocketing, all of this is causing everything to be more expensive while more and more people are losing their income.

I wrote about the nightmare that is being unemployed in 2026. Please be nice, I haven't shared any of my writing in a really long time

The Broligarchy's First World War? AI-guided weapons, two out-of-control authoritarians, no legal authority and a toxic mess of masculinity: welcome to the manosphere's first major conflict

NEW: Is this the broligarchy’s first world war? AI, like war & rape, is a hyper-masculine fantasy of God-like power, a myth at the dark heart of what we’re seeing play out in the Gulf. This war hasn’t replaced the Epstein scandal. It is the Epstein scandal.

A historical oil painting portrait of Mary Anning (1799–1847), the pioneering British fossil hunter, paleontologist, and self-taught scientist from Lyme Regis, Dorset, England. Painted by B. J. Donne in the 19th century (posthumous or based on contemporary sketches), it depicts her standing outdoors on a rocky coastal shore under a dramatic, stormy sky with dark clouds and a glimpse of the sea and distant cliffs in the background. She wears a long, dark green cloak with a hood, a red neck scarf, and a wide-brimmed bonnet tied under her chin. In her gloved right hand she holds a geological hammer (her iconic tool), and a small wicker basket hangs from her left arm, likely for carrying fossils. A loyal black-and-white dog (possibly her famous companion Tray) lies curled at her feet on the rocks. Mary Anning stands with a calm, resolute expression, gazing slightly upward and to the side, conveying quiet determination and intelligence. The painting's muted tones and romantic style emphasize her as a lone figure in a rugged, fossil-rich landscape, symbolizing her groundbreaking contributions to early paleontology despite societal barriers as a working-class woman.

Fossil collector & self-taught paleontologist Mary Anning's discoveries revolutionized our understanding of prehistoric life.

"The greatest fossilist the world ever knew," she made her finds in the Jurassic marine fossil beds along the cliffs of Lyme Regis (UK). She died #OTD in 1847. #WomenInSTEM

What’s Behind Noam Chomsky’s Obituary-Marring Epstein Friendship? He seemed like such a fiercely uncompromised critic of elites. But maybe it’s always been more complicated than that.

This is a brilliantly written piece by @virginiaheffernan.bsky.social to understand:

A black-and-white 19th-century steel engraving depicting Anna Komnene, the Byzantine princess and historian (1083–1153), shown in a seated three-quarter view within an interior setting. She is portrayed as a dignified, scholarly woman in medieval Byzantine-inspired attire: a long, flowing dark robe or mantle with wide sleeves and ornate trim around the neckline, fastened or adorned with a brooch or clasp at the chest. Her face is youthful yet composed, with soft features, downcast eyes focused intently on the open book before her, full lips, and a serene, contemplative expression suggesting deep thought or study. Her left hand rests gently on the pages of a large lectern-style book propped on a stand, while her right hand holds a quill. The background features subtle swirling ornamental patterns and faint architectural or decorative motifs, evoking a scholarly or monastic chamber. The engraving style is finely detailed with cross-hatching for shading and texture, typical of Victorian-era historical illustrations, signed in the lower area (possibly "J. Romney" or similar artist/engraver mark). The overall mood conveys intellectual pursuit, piety, and historical gravitas, idealizing Anna as the author of the Alexiad and a pioneering female scholar in Byzantine history.

Anna Komnene (1083–1153), one of the world’s first major female historians.

Wrote 𝘈𝘭𝘦𝘹𝘪𝘢𝘥, a detailed account of her father Emperor Alexios I Komnenos’s reign. Her work constitutes the most important primary source of late 11th/early 12th century Byzantine history & of the early Crusades. #WHM
