A great egret standing in a pond
Henry! I can only tell because I have spent a lot of time observing Henrietta and this bird is larger. Plumage-wise males and females look the same

Upon further observation, Henrietta's friend (Henry, based on size difference) is rocking some lovely breeding plumage
The town this story focuses on, Woodburn, Oregon, is just south of where I grew up. Nice little town where people are just trying to make a living. I used to buy tortas from the food trucks on the side of the road when I was driving through. Reading this makes me want to [redacted]
So we're doing self-tape auditions for regular jobs now? Cool, cool cool cool
I'm sure there's many many perks to living in a detached house but dang is it nice having access to dumpsters for trash and recycling
Also I think fig and apricot preserves get too much cheeseboard attention, cherry preserves are so good with anything spicy or smoky
When I was last at the coast I decided to be fancy and got the Tillamook 10-year extra sharp cheddar and it's some good shit
Definitely in the gangly dinosaur category of baby birds
YOU GUYS THERE IS A SECOND GREAT EGRET! Henrietta has a friend (or enemy, unclear)! What if they have babies?!
Credit card companies are like "ah, I see you have a credit card, but have you considered having MORE credit cards? How bout it? This one is blue!"
A consequence of cleaning my house is that I no longer have stashes of Bobby pins all over the house, which is why there is a binder clip in my hair
I think the costumes also deserve some credit. Padmé's costumes alone are doing serious work to elevate the prequels
Oh shit I need one. I have spent days of my lifetime on those ferries
When fiber products start trending are they going to do a Metamucil tequila sunrise?
Like you have to understand that some hand sewing was so fine that they counted individual threads in the warp of the fabric when making stitches. Look at your clothes and see how carefully you have to look to count 3 threads and then imagine CANDLES
Was reminded today that every tiny stitch in every piece of clothing was hand sewn before the mid 1800s, and as a vision-impaired person I am even more amazed that they did it without artificial lights. Candlelight is garbage for precision work, dear god the eye strain
I'm glad my apartment is too small for Teddy to have more than one hideyhole to stash things he isn't supposed to have, made finding my sock a lot easier
NO NO NO YOU DON’T

Does That Beloved Childhood Movie Hold Up: It Takes Two (1995)
Yep. Still delightful. Honestly a lot of the movie would be plausible if set today
Not gonna lie I also plot out the Costco gas stations on my road trip routes. The 5% cash back is part of it but also I understand their payment system, I feel they are more likely to check for card skimmers regularly, and the stores have nice bathrooms
They had names. They had beautiful faces. And they had the same dreams as your kids - crushed when American "precision" bombs slammed into their Minab elementary school, killing 175
Don't blame AI for this. Blame the sick humans who see war as a game
My new column www.inquirer.com/opinion/iran...
24 hours? Not this year. 🤷♀️
International Women’s Day comes up one hour short this year. Today, PWHL players who wear 24 are wearing 23 — a reminder that when women get less, the answer is to give women’s sports more.
I just remembered the 6th grade carnival where I couldn't think of a booth so I panicked and went with arm wrestling and then beat most of the 6th grade at arm wrestling despite being an unathletic girl but didn't have time to spend all the tickets I got from winning
I wish society would excise the words "flattering" and "bulge" from the body-related vocab list
Oooooh, will we get to learn about goiters?
Overconsumption is bad but also getting a new comforter is what finally motivated me to reorganize and declutter my room (which is not to say you should get new bedding every time your house gets messy but a little treat for the house every once in awhile as a motivation is good)
Dog treats often come in plastic zip-top pouches.
Human treats also come in plastic zip-top pouches.
So now when I open a plastic pouch my dog appears and gives me the stink eye if it's a gummy worm and not a dog treat
One of the most powerful things I've read in years, and a real dropping of the scales moment for something vile that has been insidiously poisoning everything for decades

The key is medical words, you can use up all the Xs in one go
Today I body doubled for productivity, by which I mean my friend cleaned her garage and I sat on the floor in front of the fridge trying to make words using all the letters in 3 sets of alphabet magnets
