Had a #MTGxTMNT epiphany this weekend.

Ninjutsu was only on 5 non-Dimir cards prior to TMNT (and they weren’t that great) but Sneak being across all 5 colors means I can slot them into my Marisi deck and they’ll be cast during combat making them uncounterable 👀

My co-worker and I at the LGS talking about the impact of Skateboard on Legacy:

I've really been enjoying Wuyang recently as an upgrade to Zenyatta. They play very similarly but I like that Wuyang can be a bit more aggressive and mobile. Also he's a cutie.

She’s spicy but everytime I played her I was l would just die trying to be tricky. She requires more map knowledge than I have at the moment

But most importantly learning this game has reminded me that I can only be in control of me and focus on those areas of improvement. This mindset is not easy for me but maybe that’s the point. So like… what was my aim accuracy? How are my healing/damage in comparison to others? Etc

6. Pick a character and learn that first. I landed on Zenyatta first (very Ultron-y) and then found Sigma as my tank (shield tank ala Strange or Emma Frost). I still haven’t found a damage yet I love and am good at. So far I’ve tested:

Tracer
Pharah
Mai
Symmetra
Junkrat
Sombra

5. Most of the played characters can do everything so what are roles really? Supports can two shot, tanks like Orisa can do literally everything, non snipe damage can somehow still snipe you. This also connects to the infinite variables of death. I die to most things I have no idea about.

4. They’ve released 6 new characters since I started playing. 3 of them are dives including a support so the meta is either:

1. Charge forward and dive the enemy (Diva, Anran, Vendetta, Jetpack Cat, etc)

2. One million bullets (Soldier, Bastion, Orisa, Emre, Freja, etc)

There’s no nuisance there.

3. If you steam roll a team, not much to learn there except you won. If they steam roll you, not much to learn cuz you died a million times to infinite variables. The matches that do feel valid are the tennis matches with real growth and value. Unfortunately those are few and far between.

2. As someone who struggles with learning through failure, this has really tested me because sometimes there is no learning. Sometimes you just die. How? Usually by some unknown variable that will change with every death. I’ve been working on this frustration but it still hits from time to time.

1. There is a very high barrier to entry because you are simultaneously learning your character, every other character, maps, routes, etc and there’s no learning curve or starting point. I don’t know if there’s a solution to that and I don’t think Overwatch really cares either way.

I’ve been playing Overwatch for about 4 dedicated months now and casually a little more than 4. As someone who’s never played it before here’s what I’ve gathered.

*I have played a LOT of Rivals and that’s my only basis for comparison and how characters work but I am by no means an expert on FPS’
