Last night, the Northern Lights made a breathtaking return, filling the skies with the magic we had all been waiting for.

We are now 36 days beyond the statutory deadline for the full release of the Epstein files
I'm so sorry.
in case you're curious about how angry Minnesota is about ICE, it was -20 today
They said this couldn't be done. They said, no way people would stop working, and march out on a Friday to protest. They said no city has had a successful General Strike. They were all wrong. This is Minneapolis. This is Minnesota. And these people care about their neighbors and community. Bravo!
ICE agent asked why he's taking pictures of a legal observer's car, replies: "Cuz we have a nice little database and now you're considered a domestic terrorist. So have fun with that."
βand then our goons will kidnap that life and send it to a concentration camp if we deem them the wrong colorβ

OMG, I'm strong enough to deadlift my wife off the couch now. All that warehouse work is paying off. Lol.
a meme with two hands holding words : "the deep desire to be creative" vs "the inherent need to recover my energy from surviving reality"
I feel seen
As someone who de-transitioned twice in an effort to be cis: fuck that.
I'd even go as far as being ok with evangelism, in context, not unsolicited.
But then that applies to religion or tech.
If we were talking about phones tell me how sturdy your iPhone has been and lasted for ten years and still gets updates. I'll nod and stick to my Pixel :-)
Same goes for god(s)!
I wish. I have to work all weekend.
Weird red tentacled nightmare of a fungus
Six years ago today πΏ
Aseroe rubra, the Anemone Stinkhorn Fungus, thrives on the rot of the forest floor on the Waiheβe Ridge trail. One of the stranger things Iβve seen, it should be called the Mind Flayer I think.
This line graph illustrates the percentage change in agency staff levels from the previous year for nine major U.S. federal scientific and health organizations between the fiscal years 2016 and 2025. The agencies tracked include the CDC, Department of Energy, EPA, FDA, NASA, NIH, NIST, NOAA, and NSF. For the majority of the timeline between 2016 and 2023, the agencies show relatively stable fluctuations, generally staying within a range of +5% to -5% change per year. However, there is a dramatic and uniform plummet starting in the 2024β25 period. Every agency depicted shows a sharp downward trajectory, with staffing losses ranging from approximately -15% to over -25%. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) shows the most significant decline, dropping to roughly -26%, while the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) shows the least severe but still substantial drop at approximately -15%.
This is the most astonishing graph of what the Trump regime has done to US science. They have destroyed the federal science workforce across the board. The negative impacts on Americans will be felt for generations, and the US might never be the same again.

Federal agents are pulling over off duty cops based on the color of their skin.
This is not a serious operation to enforce immigration law. Itβs a performative show of force and itβs gotten way out of hand.
Photo of a barren, mountainous landscape where the surface is comprised entirely of red-brown rock and soil.

I heard a story on the radio that I really liked, and I wrote to the reporter to express my appreciation. This is the reply I received:
"Thank you David - your appreciation note is rare and came right when I needed it."
We should do this more often. Journalism is so important to a free society.
This wheel is to the boy squirrel the way that the football is to Charlie Brown and it still makes me laugh every time he tries to use it only to be immediately spun.
I am tired of tears and laughter,
And men that laugh and weep;
Of what may come Hereafter
For men that sow to reap:
I am weary of days and hours,
Blown buds of barren flowers,
Desires and dreams and powers
And everything but sleep.
As you already well know by now, it's all lies.
Every single thing anyone in this entire administration says is a lie.
All of it.
Every time.
