I think I’m entitled to workers’ compensation for the sheer number of times I have had to email a rich person a yes or no question, only to receive a rambling, nonsensical response that doesn’t answer the question, and in fact is just a random digression.
It’s infuriating.
White collar workers who have dyslexia go to pains to hide it, find it embarrassing and often feel the need to be over perfectionistic to in some way compensate. That’s what makes Grammerly and ChatGPT appealing to so many people. Workers can’t afford to be misinterpreted in the paper trail.
When you’re so rich that it is dangerous for other people to misinterpret you, forcing people to decode your bullshit becomes a game. They have no fear of speaking in the wrong tone, grammar or spelling, you are not worth their time proofreading, you are a subordinate.
I’m so fucking serious.
I truly believe that being so rich that you don’t have to write emails that make sense or are spelled correctly is a flex. It’s ritual humiliation.
I know this because I have encountered many rich clients who email like that, it’s their way of forcing you to read their mind and meet their needs.
