There is no need to retread what has already been made because the audience is new. You can introduce them to the universe with new stories told within the universe.

More shows need to be more episodic. A lot of shows I've seen struggle because they try to advance the plot and expand the universe at the same time. They need to make shows longer to give showrunners and writers(?) more breathing room for characterization and worldbuilding.

I honestly think the show is about as good as it ever could have been with the things they wanted to do. I just think the decision of making it a show and giving it those goals was fundamentally flawed. It should have either advanced the plot or introduced the world to a wider audience.
