My SO has taken to calling this my βlimbo stickβ and β¦ sheβs not wrong?
Since I lettered on #IGOW5 challenge 2 because I canβt yet power loop or matty flip this has been seeing a lot of cradles and one or two successful power loops.
It me.
I always figured the shark fin on some #fpv #drone models was because people thought they looked βcoolβ and i figured whatever beats your drum, folx, but i think they look dopey.
But wait! Theyβre for turtle mode!1?
Cool.
arm and motor completely separated from this little fellow. ouch!
We had luck, just not all of it good! Everybody flew, but not everyone made it out in one piece. #fpv #crash
Pretty sure that arm was fractured in a previous crash. Luckily i have spare parts!
Three drones, two goggles, one controller.
With any luck, everybody flies today #fpv #drone
I've ordered a few things that i wasn't planning on ordering right now. Seems like some of the on-shore vendors are already charging tariff prices for "in-stock" gear (at least for the new HDZero goggle) while some others aren't yet.
Seriously disappointing to see some of the best-known FPV vendors start charging Mr. Dumbfuck's tariff prices for gear they have sitting on their shelves.
Might be wrong, but it seems to me that if you have it "in stock" you're not going to be paying more tariffs on it so why jack the prices now?
Minor bummer to find this hanging out on the carpet.
Better there than in the catβs tummy, tho
A v smol drone detached from its camera
crunch #fpv #drone
Once i knew i had to do more motor work i had a decision to make.
Swap M1 and M3 on the little 3β
or
wait for a shipment and swap the stack in the little one for a new all-in-one and move *that* stack to a new budget ducted, padded cinewhoop frame
Now I have to add
OR
build this new 7β fellah.
A small fpv quad with a large fpv quad prop
Ummmm
The prop for the new #fpv #drone is basically bigger than the current drone.
I know Iβve moved on from my previous hobby when I land on https://drop.com/buy/piifox-walker68-mix-series-cnc-machined-aluminum-mechanical-keyboard?referer=IMAGROOT&defaultSelectionIds=990389%2C990392 and my first thought is βwith $160 i could buy a tiny whoopβ.
This is my first #dronebuild, and I Frankensteinβd it together out of quickly-available Amazon parts. The T-Motor F1507s I got for $65 / set are now $55 / ea, lol. Gonna swap motors and frack up *more* soldering, and maybe pick up a set of 1404s (but will have to wait a bit :( #amazonboycott)
lil 3β quadcopter after a minor rebuild
Post-rebuild flight. Rebuild did not go as planned (replacement VTx seemed to be transmitting but no image and i really wanted to test the motor fix, so i put the old one back). *A* motor still failed on first flight; assuming itβs the same one until i get the logs later. #fpv #drone #dronebuild
This means i was able to customize and βrubberizeβ a single insert and a little extra pad to put in an Apache 3800 case to carry my RadioMaster TX16S and either my Scouts or DJI Goggles and the other goggles can stay in the fat shark case at home. Like it was meant to be.
A neat thing I discovered while customizing pick-and-pull foam: DJI Goggles 2, Motion Controller 2, and battery fit **perfectly** in the Fat Shark Scout βcaseβ.
a drone family: Nanohawk, Tinyhawk II Indoor, and DIY build.
Sunday morningβs lineup.
Got a few quick 3s flights in with the 3β and a few 30β falls with a 4s - pretty sure my solder job on one motor is failing. Iβm going to swap out the VTx and rewire the power while iβm in there. #drone #fpv
Great morning for a little # fpv # drone crashing.
A bit muddy in the corn field. Made for a non-existent flight this morning; since one of the motors is still gummed up I couldnβt get off the ground.
This morningβs flight.
Pretty windy at moments. Session ended with a prop strike on my poorly-homemade XT30-XT60 adapter (which i made so i could fly this 3β with 4s batteries)
https://dalek.zone/w/9HgVxkK4sU4h8HXfQoUQsC
https://loops.video/v/6KnlRp2H2T a few clips of the new 3β fellaβs βmaiden voyageβ; two mishaps and a tiny bit of flight.
I say βlittleβ because compared to the largest FPV drone iβve actually flown this one is 6x the weight
Weighs in at 269g with an 850 mAh 3s lipo. I *might* be able to get that down below 249g - I donβt need that βmassiveβ VTx - i even have a little micro one i could use, but i have something else in mind for that and it would save me maybe 5g. A smaller camera might save a few g.
- ImpulseRC Apex 3β frame
- SpeedyBee F405 Mini stack
- SpeedyBee TX1600 Ultra VTx
- RadioMaster RP-1 ELRS receiver
- Readytosky βStarlightβ Camera
- T-Motor F1507 2700 KV motors
- no name 3β tri-blade props
3β first-person view quadcopter I built βfrom scratchβ
Oh and lest i forget: my first βfrom scratchβ FPV quadcopter - a βlittleβ 3-incher
I stumbled across a useful hack: my thumbs were sore from my radio stick ends, so I tried some thumb protectors that were horrible. Then I tried sticking some of that to the sticks with Gorilla tape. That didnβt work but when they fell off that left the now-non-sticky tape which works perfectly!
Pick-and-pluck storage for FPV goggles and micro quads.
First attempts with pick-and-pluck. The batteries are just there for hauling downstairs or to the yard, not for long transit or storage. Also donβt have anything to βwatchβ on the DJI Goggles yet (I mean aside from a Mavic 3 that I havenβt tried with the goggles).
sunrise over Southwest Wisconsin
Beautiful morning for a quick flight!
Bespoke XT30 -> XT60 adapter
FIrst XT30 soldering job, and not much of a solderer in the first place. Not pretty, and arguably not exactly safe, but it got the job done!
