Judge: attorneys, and particularly those with the awesome power of the US Attorney's office, have a responsibility to be candid

You were new on the air when we lived there, & having since moved to a market where “local” news is dominated by off-island aggregators, glad you have the corporate support!

Thinking specifically of how both Target & the military Exchange ruthlessly prosecute even accidental shoplifting, & what the difference says about how these firms view their customers.

I assume Amazon makes a business/brand decision not to pursue aggressive enforcement & prosecution, as the technology makes it imminently possible.

This is a book I’d have ordered already if I knew it existed! Check the Bloomsbury link?

Feel like this might also be a textbook example of “objecting only makes it worse, actually.”

Trying to do the mental math on non-lunatic chamber of commerce mayor-bots.

This sounds like the exact fact pattern where a seemingly involuntary “sweetie” would absolutely slay with the 12 folks in the box.

There are very few scenarios where “sweetie” can be effectively (if not professionally) deployed during cross-examination.

As a 6 foot white dude, never.

What’s Brad Henry up to these days? Last Dem statewide in my memory…

Like, donate that money to NCMEC or save it to have a pony at Jack Reed’s retirement party, I dunno.

I am torn between “compete everywhere/every voter deserves a choice” vs the ritual dollar pyre that is required to let some back bencher from the House or retired Growler pilot get absolutely worked by the dumbest smirk in a safe Senate seat.

Can confirm, some former SOCOM dudes who 1000% knew better made some piles of extremely dubious cash.

It’s wild the number of fellowships & funded perches to create soft-handed fascist enablers versus nothing on the other side of the ledger but frothing loons steering a bobsled painted “responsible statecraft”

I first heard “State Trooper” on the radio barreling across the Great Plains in the dead of night during an 18-hour DC-to-OKC thunder run, back when FM was all you had & stations would fade out between towns.

Formative, compelled me to find & listen to the whole album upon arrival in Oklahoma.

Same piece he uncorks this banger, which hopefully is a mantra for our present age: “Monomania is not interesting, and the fact that no nationalist of the more bigoted kind can write a book which still seems worth reading after a lapse of years has a certain deodorizing effect.”

Notes on Nationalism | The Orwell Foundation "By ‘nationalism’ I mean first of all the habit of assuming that human beings can be classified like insects and that whole blocks of millions or tens of millions of people can be confidently labelled...

The closest Orwell came to saying that was mocking pacifists as “[t]hose who ‘abjure’ violence can only do so because others are committing violence on their behalf.”

I also like to stunt on the unqualified losers carrying water for what remains of DOJ, but important to remember that the facist legal project incubated primarily from Yale Law & George Mason.

Some of this is just “play to your strengths,” US DOD’s gotten very good at bespoke manhunting over past couple decades.

In theory, war planners identified leadership or succession as a critical vulnerability for the regime, a pressure point that may collapse the whole thing. We shall see.

I do not disagree, but in Benning during the summer, maybe I can see the appeal.

I also shudder to point out that Ranger Regiment had been sporting some really dumb looking velocity rugby shirts that do feature patches on a glorified tee shirt

There are several Army Ammunition Plants (Ardmore, Redford, Lake City), but they’re gov’t owned/contractor operated.
