I thought celebrating MLK’s birthday would be the only reason to view January 20 as anything but a national day of mourning, but I just discovered it’s also David Lynch’s birthday!

So let’s commit random acts of weirdness and civic consciousness on the day, with cherry pie and coffee for dessert.

I just made some emotional support pumpkin muffins, if anyone needs one.

I grew up in Southern California, specifically in the beachside communities from San Pedro to Santa Monica. So many core memories of driving along PCH and up through the Palisades. My heart is breaking as those beautiful vistas go up in flames.

Last year I purposefully took home the worst white elephant gift from the party because I had an idea for a makeover. Tomorrow night we’ll see if Lobelia the lobster gets her Cinderella story. Wish us luck.
