It is! And I couldnβt split up the series, so getting it meant I needed to make room for three books instead of one π hashtag worth it
Speaking of, hereβs todayβs #BookHaul
Something I love: getting new books π
Something I donβt love: having to scoot all my books over to make room for the new ones π«
One of the benefits of working at an elementary school is that you get to tell old jokes to an audience thatβs never heard them.
I told the βwhy is 6 afraid of 7β joke today and it killed. π
A collage of 11 images with a warm and bright mood. Spaghetti about to go into a boiling pot of water. A fat, white man and woman holding each other and smiling at each other as the woman playfully grabs the manβs face. A closeup of chocolate cupcakes with pink heart sprinkles. Chunks of butter on a pile of flour ready to be mixed. A chocolate cookie with a heart on it made in powered sugar. A floured table with text reading βHow can he be so attractive and so annoying at the same time?β A fat, white man and woman sitting at a cafe table drinking coffee together, smiling. An overhead view of a whisk, a bowl of flour, two brown eggs, and a pile of heart-shaped waffles. A closeup of a woman sipping on a ladle while a hand from offscreen holds it to her lips and keeps a hand underneath her mouth for drips. A cutting board with mushrooms, green onions, and cucumbers in the process of being chopped. A pair of hands cracking eggs into a bowl that already has a dozen cracked in it.
Make an assumption about my WIP based on my moodboard π³
Shayna smiles up at the viewer while holding a red velvet cupcake with lit 3 and 5 candles.

Itβs been a wonderful year full of a lot of exciting changes! Today I got lunch at my favorite hibachi, added a few more to my book hoard, and saw a movie, all the while blissfully unaware of the football game going on without me. π Itβs been a good day.
Been working on a new draft of a book I haven't touched in about a year, and it's been kind of great to get into this character's head again. Reminds me why I loved this story to begin with. π₯°
My 2025 writing goals are:
- keep querying
- revise/edit Cooking Class YA enough to send to readers
- write a first draft of Church Camp book
- Read at least one book per month
Weβll see how ambitious this is in a couple of months. π
a pencil drawing illustration of two white teen girls standing side by side. the girl on the left is tall and fat, with curly blonde hair in braids, standing shyly. she wears a church camp t-shirt and skinny jeans. the girl on the right is short and thin, with dark loose hair and a bright smile. she stands with her weight shifted to one hip, giving the rock on salute. she's wearing a black crop top and reads "Got Jesus? It's Hell without Him", short shorts, and ripped tights.
collage of moody photos. a forest canopy. hands raised in praise to god. two teen girls with their foreheads pressed together with sexual tension. two arms with WEJD bracelets on them. a summer camp cabin in the woods with the sun peeking through the trees. a worn wooden cross in the woods. two silhouetted girls from behind sitting closely next to each other. a campfire. a closeup of a bible open to psalm 84. a teen girl with her head bowed in prayer, a bible open in her lap, and her hands folded on top of the Bible. in handwriting-style white script in the middle are the words βWhatever Is Pure.β
Drawing character art and making moodboards count as writing, right? π
Erin, a tan man with red hair in pigtails, floats underwater in a page's outfit of white shirt and suspenders, with a brown hat. He holds a magnifying glass up to the green tail of a merman, while bubbles float about both of them.
Jgorjers (George) splashes down into the sea in merman form. His green tail and green hair catch the light of the sun above. Jgorjers' (George's) eyes are closed. His fingernails are painted red and green.
Two devil dads console three crying demon children in a park. One child, Lenert, stares off screen at what is going on. Lenert proceeds to wander off in the second panel, prompting two of the other kids to follow him in the third panel. The children hop down from their dads to pursue their curiosity.
Lacey, a small demon child, and her friend Presel sit down in the grass to learn spells 101. Presel asks Lacey what she has to study to be "cool". As that is Lacey's purpose for learning--not to be a good student. Lacey describes how she needs to cast fire spells, but only wants to cast pretty ones. She points to her book in the final panels. Presel takes a look and lets Lacey know that the prettiest spells are the hardest ones.
Hello Bluesky! π¦ I'm Jo/e (Joe or Jo) and I am a writer, comic artist, and graphic novelist. My work revolves around characters as the plot drivers. I generally write mundane fantasy, and incorporate family as theme a lot. Excited to post more of my work and art!

the cover of E.M. Anderson's The Keeper of Lonely Spirits over a gently blurred background of a flowery meadow in the sunset. in a style that gives the impression of paper art, a small brown cottage sits at the top of a tall, green hill rife with small yellow flowers and sprinkled with trees. the cottage windows and doorway are orange with light, and blue smoke drifts gently from the chimney. at the top of the hill, clustered around the cottage, are tombstones and crosses. large yellow sans-serif text with torn edges is centered over the image, reading "The Keeper of Lonely Spirits." smaller, white sans-serif text below reads, "A novel. E.M. Anderson."
HERE SHE IS, the gorgeous cover for my upcoming queer cozy fantasy, THE KEEPER OF LONELY SPIRITS (March 25, Mira Books). the cover art is by Xuan Loc Xuan β€οΈ
