Started reading The Dark Tower series.
Therefore, almost inevitably, have done very little else, including my own writing.
Forgive me, universe.

Actually met my word count goal today!
I'm more of a just-write-something-every-day writer, but I'm pushing myself this month.
Calling it a win, will eat chocolate in celebration.

Been throwing down fresh new words on an old familiar story.
No better feeling.

I love the newness of writing a first draft, but I agree that the second is where it really gets things going.
I envy this technique.
My brain simply cannot. If it's a scene that isn't as fun, I have to at least scribble something down to keep things in order.
I love
writing my first drafts.
I hate
reading my first drafts.
How about you?

Ready to kiss January goodbye and start writing again. That'll show this never-ending month who's boss.
One thing after another has worn me down, but I have high hopes and goals to meet before spring.

I think so! That bit of extra life experience and different motivations make the characters so interesting to explore. But it's just not very "adulty" story. "Cozy" might be the way to market it....
Vibes, I guess ๐
Whichever is calling to me, I see it through til the end. Then I can let it simmer while I focus on the other thing. At least for me, this has let me finish two books, with a third going, and now I'm editing the first wip.
I wish I was a scheduler, but alas.
Jumping back in is harder, imo, than something new.
When I'm stuck, I always scribble something new to get going. Good luck!
Yeah, I know. But when my stories are so light and fantasy fluffy, just with a middle aged protag, it feels unmarketable.
Which is fine. I'm just a newbie who doesn't know how to approach such things yet.
You got this!
Are you working on a thing? Or wanting to start something new?
Right! My stories are no spice, shortish novels. Typically fantasy-ish, but I want a story where a fully grownup has to deal with fairy shenanigans or whatever. We've all read about what teenagers do, I write what someone like me would do. I dunno.
I just feel stuck between categories. That's ok, though, as I'd rather write it how I want and maybe someone else will read it as is.
I have others with young protags, they'll fit nicely into YA.
I have 2 (or 3) going right now. I have to focus on one at a time, though. The others simmer on the backburner til I'm ready to dive back in.
See, as I write, I assume it's a book for adults. But once it's done, it really falls closer to YA in terms of content and simplicity.
But also, a YA novel about a 30-something mom?
Still YA?
This is why I think I'll self pub. Thoughts?

All skies are beautiful!
No, I wouldn't. But me, oh, surely people would judge me.
But honestly, that's probably the best solution. ๐
But then... won't people notice and think I'm weird?
*cries in social anxiety*
*I have a thought to share*
Should I post to threads, bluesky, discord?
Can't decide.
*never posts*
The way this is literally my plan ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ
How dare you?
So painful!
When will I learn? Huh? How many tragedies will unfold before I finally realize the truth . . . that I will not, ever, remember that super cool story idea unless I write it down!

I'm a writer/reader from threads! Your list was so helpful to me, thank you!
Let me introduce you to my pfp. My grandmother, the one who nagged me from beyond the grave to pick up writing again.
The story featuring her as a child is forthcoming; I need to cut my teeth on a few other stories before I can do hers justice.
One day...
