Gnarly branch using one pan. The color is called “frog’s breath” from an Etsy store based in Thailand. It has such an interesting tone when dark bark color changes to a green gray with water. Brush from Lebenzon brushes.
First attempt at using Nicker Poster Colors. Gouache is harder than I thought 😭 Got any tips? #gouache #art
Character sketching and mixing different colors to get a richer skin hue. Do you mix or do you just use the color straight from the pan/tube? #kidlitart
I cannot stress enough how bookkeeping is a skill a creative must learn early. #kidlitartist
A curious little seahorse for #kidlitartpostcard day 🌊
I’m an illustrator living in the beautiful foothills of North Carolina USA. Looking for representation and projects: picture books, and MG and YA covers/interiors.
One of my oldest artwork. I drew this in 2009 when I first bought my Copics. It’s my very first marker art. It’s cool to see how my style has changed since. I started with watercolors ~10 years later and then digital last year.
Let’s see your old pieces! I’d love to see them.

Who’s going to #scbwiCarolina’s fall retreat? Me too!
Do you do this too? Pic of me from 2014 at a restaurant while waiting for my food to come.
An illustration in muted colors (warm browns, teal greens, pinks) with watercolor and pencil-style fine linework. On a beach, a large-eyed brown mouse looks up at the sky while putting on teal (with pink flowers) rain boots. Raindrops have begun to fall and a dark cloud is spreading over the light blue sky. The mouse leans against a stump. On a low branch dangles the mouse’s snorkel mask. In the background, the ocean is still calm, but the mouse is going to have to scurry quickly to get home before the storm.
A bad storm is brewing. Better get your boots on. ☔️
It’s #kidlitartpostcard day. 🙂

Kris Fulk’s postcard with her info. There is a watercolor painting of a girl in red robes holding a spear. She floats above mountains. A phoenix hovers behind her.
Hello #kidlitartpostcard day! I am a children’s illustrator based in NC, USA looking for representation. I work in both traditional and digital watercolors and love illustrating Asian and AAPI cultures. Aside from depicting traditions/ the family unit, I love exploring fantastical elements as well.
This is so exciting! First time entering this year. Good luck to all of us who are hoping for good news 💕
Can’t wait!
Thanks for sharing! Will definitely fill it out.
Oh my goodness I am blind. Thanks so much!!!
How do you upload videos? My phone filters out videos from selections when I try to upload anything. Just pictures are selectable.
Feeling the tiktok ban this morning, so I thought I’d post my first video here in Bluesky — only to be unable to post any videos. Videos are not even visible for me to select for upload. So here’s a picture instead, whomp whomp. #booktok
Check this out! #childrensillustrator

Happy 1st kidlitartpostcard of 2025! I’m a Filipino American children’s illustrator based NC, USA! I love amplifying AAPI stories, whether PB, MG or YA. I’d especially love to be considered for fantastic myths and fables, specially if the lore is based in Asia.
My website is at marikris.com
One of the things I want to do more in 2025 is buy art books for inspiration and reference. Studio Ghibli is one of my ultimate inspirations. #childrensillustrator #kidlitartist
She’s so cute 🥺🥺🥺 I had to wait till she was completely dry and then packed her up this morning. If you’re looking for artwork for the coming new year, please save the first pic with my info and email me with a description of the art you need.

Did this a few months ago when I first started using gouache. It’s definitely different from watercolor, even if it has similarities. Here’s my doodle Comet playing with a butterfly 🦋
Do you like watercolors or gouache more?

One house portrait art commission done! I love when they request for extra details like this cute puppy. My client is gifting this to her friend (so sweet!)
Imagine getting gifted a custom watercolor. Wouldn’t you like to receive a house portrait for Christmas? 🎄
