Iβm too polite (and afraid of waste) for this π
Pretty sure he did that last year, too. A consistently kind and helpful guy.
today is the 6th anniversary of the official start of the COVID pandemic and I am concerned we have taken many wrong lessons from it
My partner got offered a free ticket, so he went. Now heβs upset he wasted valuable video game time watching it π (I fell asleep, so I didnβt see any of it. Phew.)
Seems like there are estradiol shortages in generalβmy birth control pill has been under a manufacturing shortage since November, and Iβve had to switch to a different one. Iβll be interested to hear whatβs up with all this.
Ah, this is certainly a consideration to keep in mind π€
MCAS joys π Hope you are back to baseline soon!
Yes, that I am using to eat my less-liked things first and save my favourites for last, which then often get snatched before I can get to them. I think that was obvious from the original post?
We all have the same 24 hours in a day, unless youβre chronically ill or disabled, struggle with addictions, mental illness, live in poverty, violence, war and climate crisis.
Yeah, mine is not at all pleased with the time change + me eating later than usual yesterday due to thinking dinner should be after sunsetβ¦ π
I always do this, as well, but Iβve learned that itβs really risky in any sort of tapas or potluck situation, because the thing youβre saving for last will likely be seen as being available and will get eaten! π©
Because watching my partner slam down the book in surprise when the reveal happened and me knowing exactly what part he just read was the best part of Christmas that year. Thatβs the kind of reaction we want to preserve for others.
I wouldβve expected it to be a robot, or some other rescue mission from Earth, but again, I didnβt read the blurb before we started listening. As the plot went on, I was definitely not expecting an alien.
Me trying to live a normal life with chronic illness: (I love this)
So much this! Itβs such a pain to get from local business to local business, but there are so many gems there.

Finally, someone else who gets it! I would much rather have the sun in the morning than in the late evening. (Even when it meant 4am sunrises in summer and 3pm sunsets in winter, Japanβs no-DST schedule worked better for my well-being.)
Iβm sooooo jealous! A bunch of my favourite orchestral pieces plus PokΓ©mon soundtracks is a dream program.
Just checked the blurb (gave the book to my partner for Christmas 2024), and it doesnβt say anything about an alien at all. Just βhe has to do it alone. Or does he?β I had definitely thought itβd be more βrealisticβ science fiction, more like The Martian, so it was a delightful reveal.
Is it? I donβt think Iβd have called that a theme of the book, necessarily. Interpersonal relationships, sure, but βmaking friendsβ is definitely not something that happens much.
Also, I was introduced to the book by family, so no blurb was read.
Itβs still cold enough here in Manitoba that I havenβt heard geese yet, but the sparrows are out in full force today π«’
Still depressing; itβs such a huge turning point halfway through.
It would absolutely not have been the same reading experience for me if someone had told me about that plot point beforehand. Iβm still peeved that itβs in the trailer.
I think I saw snow in Shinjuku twice in my whole five years there, and definitely never in March! Sheesh!
Crude oil prices, showing a very sharp increase in the last day, from around 65 to 101 dollars per barrel..
Oil prices wouldn't be all over the news today if more of our economy was powered by local, secure renewable energy.
This isn't an "energy crisis". It's a fossil fuel crisis.
44% of UK electricity came from renewables in 2025. More of that plus an electrified economy => no more oil shocks.
If I ever get super ambitious or find others who are, perhaps! Itβd certainly be a bit of a dream job. But having lived in Japan, Canada, and the US, I also know starting cross-cultural businesses is not easy π
Haha, just unfortunate that itβs hard to find such an agency to do work for. Weβll see how things go in the coming years!
Does bro think kids go to school to produce work for us? Horses werenβt learning and growing by pulling carriagesβ¦
It's also remarkable that people think this is some kind of attack on low income people.
The important part of this post is that car dependency is that it prevents the things that really help low income families like good transit & safe bike & pedestrian infrastructure.
I hadnβt thought about it this way, but itβs really quite trueβ¦ π
