Seems like there are estradiol shortages in general—my birth control pill has been under a manufacturing shortage since November, and I’ve had to switch to a different one. I’ll be interested to hear what’s up with all this.

We all have the same 24 hours in a day, unless you’re chronically ill or disabled, struggle with addictions, mental illness, live in poverty, violence, war and climate crisis.

Yeah, mine is not at all pleased with the time change + me eating later than usual yesterday due to thinking dinner should be after sunset… 🙃

I always do this, as well, but I’ve learned that it’s really risky in any sort of tapas or potluck situation, because the thing you’re saving for last will likely be seen as being available and will get eaten! 😩

Because watching my partner slam down the book in surprise when the reveal happened and me knowing exactly what part he just read was the best part of Christmas that year. That’s the kind of reaction we want to preserve for others.

I would’ve expected it to be a robot, or some other rescue mission from Earth, but again, I didn’t read the blurb before we started listening. As the plot went on, I was definitely not expecting an alien.

Finally, someone else who gets it! I would much rather have the sun in the morning than in the late evening. (Even when it meant 4am sunrises in summer and 3pm sunsets in winter, Japan’s no-DST schedule worked better for my well-being.)

I’m sooooo jealous! A bunch of my favourite orchestral pieces plus Pokémon soundtracks is a dream program.

Just checked the blurb (gave the book to my partner for Christmas 2024), and it doesn’t say anything about an alien at all. Just “he has to do it alone. Or does he?” I had definitely thought it’d be more “realistic” science fiction, more like The Martian, so it was a delightful reveal.

Is it? I don’t think I’d have called that a theme of the book, necessarily. Interpersonal relationships, sure, but “making friends” is definitely not something that happens much.

Also, I was introduced to the book by family, so no blurb was read.

Oil prices wouldn't be all over the news today if more of our economy was powered by local, secure renewable energy.

This isn't an "energy crisis". It's a fossil fuel crisis.

44% of UK electricity came from renewables in 2025. More of that plus an electrified economy => no more oil shocks.

If I ever get super ambitious or find others who are, perhaps! It’d certainly be a bit of a dream job. But having lived in Japan, Canada, and the US, I also know starting cross-cultural businesses is not easy 😅

It's also remarkable that people think this is some kind of attack on low income people.

The important part of this post is that car dependency is that it prevents the things that really help low income families like good transit & safe bike & pedestrian infrastructure.

I hadn’t thought about it this way, but it’s really quite true… 😅
