Tatiana demanded recognition of Indigenous Peoples as knowledge keepers—from the earth to the sky, from oral tradition to digital code. "Env. justice and educational justice are the same. Colonization poisoned both our waters and our minds — it is time to reclaim them both."
She called for an urgent stop to destructive initiatives in Indigenous territories, for investment in Indigenous-led education rooted in their languages and ancestral knowledges, and for the inclusion of Indigenous Peoples in the digital transformation, begining with AI literacy.
She condemned the devastating impacts of a climate crisis they did not cause—rivers poisoned, mountains plundered, and forests burned for profit—while the voices of Indigenous Peoples continued to be silenced and their identities erased by mainstream education systems.
An Indigenous woman from the #Andes spoke on behalf of her sisters from the greater Collasuyo region — Bolivia—, who have long defended their territories, water, and ancestral knowledge. She is Tatiana Blanco:

This is why, financing in Indigenous territories, including extractives, should respect Indigenous values, human rights, self-determination, and #FPIC, and avoid land expropriation.
He raised concerns about the 4th UN Conference on Financing for Development, noting the lack of Indigenous rights references and the risk of private sector extractive financing worsening land exploitation.
Jiten addressed the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues, expressing our concerns abt the growing push by International Financial Institutions, financial intermediaries, and corporations to fund extractive industries and misleading climate solutions under the guise of green and renewable energy.

13 years ago, the Inter-American Court ruled in favor of the Sarayaku People, recognizing Ecuador's violation of their rights by allowing extractive activities without Free, Prior and Informed Consent. Since then, Ecuador has repeatedly failed to comply with the Court’s orders.
in the cases of the #Kichwa People of Sarayaku and the Indigenous Peoples in Voluntary Isolation, the Tagaeri and Taromenane. He also called to urgently adopt a national law on Free, Prior and Informed Consent #FPIC with meaningful Indigenous Peoples' participation.
This afternoon, on the #EarthDay, Hernán Malaver Santi, President of the Kichwa Indigenous People of #Sarayaku, delivered a statement before the #UNPFII, calling for a recommendation to the State of Ecuador to fully comply with the rulings issued by the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (...)
