The dystopian world that the opponents of AI fear will be created by unbridled capitalism and oligarchy, not by AI. The oligarchs are using AI as a distraction to move attention away from themselves. You're upset about the wrong thing, I think. Address the root cause. The tech is secondary.
Anti-war protests held in 50 U.S. cities over weekend. β...demonstrators rallied & marched in major U.S. cities, including New York, Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, Chicago, Pittsburgh & San Francisco, demanding that the Trump admin. put an end to the war [on Iran]." english.news.cn/northamerica...
Warren: "It is still the case that the Trump admin cannot explain the reasons we entered this war, the goals we're trying to accomplish. The only part that seems clear is that while there is no money for 15m Americans who lost their healthcare, there's a billion a day to spent on bombing Iran."

The Cost of Silence π€
Using Foucaultβs Panopticon, we explore why rigid "Manhood Acts" lead to a crisis of recognition and high suicide rates. Itβs about Epistemic Injustice: denying men the tools to understand their own lives. 3/5
The Digital Frontier π±
We move beyond "bad choices" to look at Psychopowerβhow algorithms groom male grievance and turn human subjects into "consumable data" via Deepfakes. Grounded in Baudrillard & Nussbaum. 2/5

5/ My intellectually-optimistic side believes the antidote is a hybrid politics. We must move from a model of "reliable dominance" to one of "reflective care." We can only solve social problems holistically by understanding their multitude of causes. π€
4/ From the logic of "masculinist protection" (Iris Marion Young) to the "policing of subordinates" (@katemanne.bsky.social), the goal is the same: replace cooperation with a performance of "alpha" dominance. Itβs an externalist hack that bypasses genuine agency.
3/ The "Strongman" (from Putin to 47) isn't actually strong. In a Nietzschean sense, they are reactive. They don't have the creative "will to power"; they have a parasitic will to dominate. They fear the very vulnerability that leads to reflective insight.
2/ Using R.W. Connellβs framework, we see that this isn't about "men being men." Itβs a structural "J-factor"βa legitimacy script that prioritizes zero-sum dominance over the relationality needed for a functional democracy. ποΈ
𧡠The Crisis of the "Strongman"
1/ Why are global politics stuck in an adversarial loop? It isn't just policy or polarization. Itβs a symptom of a foundational poison: hegemonic masculinity.

How can a foreign aid policy that primarily hurts women and children be branded βpro-lifeβ?
New in PN: The bombing of Iranian children is an unforgivable crime
"American disinterest in the lives of people abroad is a resource politicians use to justify cynical wars. It's hard to see on what moral grounds we claim a right to decide the fate of those about whom we clearly care so little."

"Our views are profoundly shaped by our cultural backgrounds and life experiences. Uniformity dulls our collective philosophical thinking. A fair and flourishing discipline would treasure rather than repel those who have historically been excluded."
