MARE*GO is sailing again. Last Monday she left Ceuta, crossed the street of Gibraltar and is know entering the Atlantic Ocean! One flip around the corner and along the coast of Portugal. The weather conditions are sometimes challenging, but the old lady is on her way back home.
We are moored for Diesel and provision. Exactly where thousands of #refugees are desperately trying to reach a safe place! And civil society no longer has a chance to intervene in a humanitarian way here either, just like on Lesbos, #EU has managed to implement the idea of a fortress so radically!
MARE*GO arrived in Ceuta yesterday! The first big jump. From Licata to Ceuta took 9 days and nights without a break.

MARE*GO is sailing with 5.5 knots (around 10 km/h) along the North African coast line. Today she passes Galite of Tunisia. There are still many more mikes to go, crossing fingers for the best weather conditions!

Today we started the journey to the origin. After 9 legendary years as search and rescue vessel she will get her retirement in Germany. Some new charity projects are waiting there for her.

We have to cancel the three-month deployment for summer 2024. After the first three weeks, there are too many small and large technical issues and security concerns. We now have to look for the causes and solve problems from the ground up instead of just dealing with the symptoms.

Dear all, we have technical problems with MARE*GO and our RIB #leavenoonebehind. It appears to be serious, therefore we are heading back to Port of Licata.

All rescued people arrived safely in the port of Pozzallo today. We are very happy that we could be a part of their journey to Europe. After a short preparation, the crew is ready to head back to be operational again.

Last night the crew of Mare*Go performed another rescue. We took the people on board & are heading towards our port of safety Pozzallo, Sicily. A lot of the people have been on the move for a long time, we are happy to assist them on their last steps.

The crew of Mare*Go assisted the fibreglass boat for over 4h, in coordination with @sea-watch.org & @alarmphone.bsky.social. Also @Nadir was on scene and supported the case. Thanks to this collaboration all people arrived in a place of safety.
The first rescue of the deployment ended successfully.

The old Mare*Go makes it’s way down south to the SAR Zone. After an intense period of training and preparation our crew is now ready for this long deployment!

A few days of training left and the crew will make its way to the SAR zone. This is the start of our three
months deployment!
The new crew is in the middle of the training week! After three deployments this year, it’s time to sort all life jackets out.

Today we received an e-mail from a distress case by @alarmphone.bsky.social . As we searched for them, we found another boat in need of assistance! We provided lifejackets and accompanied them for hours until the Italian Coast Guard took them on board!
