He despises the men about him—he despises, for instance, Mr. B—because he knows that what he has had to achieve by relentless work men like B have won by knowing the right people. If you’re starting out as a screenwriter, my advice is to stretch this “dreaming” phase out as long as possible. Let the movie appear in your head before you try to transcribe it to the cold and clinical computer screen. And have fun diving into research - it ALWAYS results in something interesting.
