"In 2013, historian Rhae Lynn Barnes was researching blackface in America when she encountered a stumbling block at the Library of Congress: Various primary sources on the subject were listed as 'missing on shelf.'" HT @monsieurwaldo.bsky.social
While I look forward to joining our friends in donating to the @sdsulibrary.bsky.social during tomorrow’s Day of Giving, it’s also a good time for some new collections gifts
We were the recipient of one of the terminated grants, doing extraordinary digital collections work w/colleagues in Mexico. We have continued the work with support from donors but the damage done to the infrastructure for teaching, scholarship, & engagement with the humanities is unprecedented
Proud to be part of the @calstate.bsky.social today (as well as a long-time @sjsuischool.bsky.social instructor): "Our support for the LGBTQ members of our community, who have experienced threats and harms over the last several years remains unwavering." blogs.sjsu.edu/newsroom/202...

Speaking as a Democrat who had to live under Rahm Emanuel as a citizen of Chicago, no, no-one should be asking him to provide any opinion or serve in any role. Ever.
My grandfather was a bread baker - working at the oven for 10 hours a day - and a union leader
At the SCELC meeting, hearing a great talk about “communicating library value” and flashing back to a paper I wrote almost 10 years ago. Still a good topic! www.sciencedirect.com/org/science/...
Looking forward to a great day with my SCELC colleagues, but starting with a run to the beach
This was madness. I entered the queue 9 hours ago & there are still 9,000 people ahead of me. I renewed my old Field Museum membership just to buy tickets to the #Pokemon exhibit. I assume this was the best day for membership sales ever @nbcchicago.com www.nbcchicago.com/news/local/t...
Heartened to see community support for the DePaul University Art Museum @hyperallergic.com hyperallergic.com/plan-to-clos...
mean, I’d be willing to purchase a Field Museum membership but the web site can’t do that either; someone get someone over there from the Ghibli Museum or San Diego Comic-Con to help them out
The Field Museum had no idea how to prepare for #Pokemon Fossil Museum, did they?
Interesting. @insidehighered.com features a few academic libraries for doing what so many academic libraries have been doing for so many years. One thing is true: there is almost certainly something powerful happening at your library & you should get in on it! www.insidehighered.com/news/student...
It’s #ReadAcrossAmerica Day here at the @sdsulibrary.bsky.social & your chance to pick out a book and/or talk to librarians about what you’re reading (or what you might like to read) @amlibraryassoc.bsky.social @neatoday.bsky.social www.nea.org/professional...
Every senator who voted to confirm RFK Jr owns this tragedy. Every single one.
Looking forward to it! Your Eight Decades of Archie was also great (and I’ve never been an Archie reader)
I don’t know exactly, but they told me it would be more “history of comics”
It was a great show … and I hear there’s another comics exhibit coming to the @skirball.bsky.social later this spring
Given other newd out of DePaul this week, perhaps their ne t symposium will be on “AI in Art”? blogs.depaul.edu/ai-institute...
I'm begging my fellow politicians, Illinoisans, and Americans to realize that right now, we aren't fighting over policy or political party.
We're fighting over whether we're going to be a country rooted in empathy and kindness — or one rooted in cruelty and rage.
Having completed another Grad Slam (3-minute thesis), we continue sharing exemplary student research today with the SDSU Student Symposium (I am eager to see the winners of this year's @sdsulibrary.bsky.social Library Research Award!) @sdsuresearch.bsky.social research.sdsu.edu/sdsu_student...
It’s good to see that some of these collaborations continued, but it makes the many questions about what will come next for the museum community and the art collection even more critical (3/3) libguides.depaul.edu/c.php?g=2534...

The DePaul Art Museum was a great partner for the library in demonstrating the power of collection-centered teaching, scholarship, and student employment while I was there. It saddens me, but does not surprise me, to see how things have changed (1/3) www.wbez.org/museums/2026...
Kudos to our colleagues at @everylibrary.bsky.social on this new evidence of the good they are doing as part of the library community during a period of unprecedented challenge to our profession, our communities, and the freedom to read, inquire, and speak assets.nationbuilder.com/votelibrarie...
