It is March, so yes, I am a hairy creature.
(Although it's to be over 80F tomorrow, so perhaps the month is no longer relevant.)
Thumbnails of nine fairytale scarves (dancing skeletons, fairytale hands, foxes, girls fleeing houses, etc)
Scarves! With fairy-tale, Gothic, and fairy-tale Gothic illustrations.
These are vast but very very light scarves βΒ they twist up quite small.

My once-a-month book group met today to discuss The Lost Bookshop, by Evie Woods. I was glad not to be the only one who found the timejumping confusing. I wanted to love this, with its elements of magical realism and bits of history, but I never cottoned to the characters and was too often lost.
Yes, and from where I am sitting, it's not even 6 a.m.
are no actual ghosts in the story, but I'm haunted by it. Patriarchy, cruelty, power, abuse are all tightly written into an absolutely beautifully crafted tale. It's so well written that I want to reread it to learn how it's done, and yet so horrifying that I don't want to and would like to forget.
that explores the life of the early Britons of the Iron Age in Northumberland. The father is not as educated as the university prof and students on the trip, but is an absolute purist and totally dedicated to being authentic. Silvie is constantly on alert. The book broods doom from the start. There
I have a couple of new books to dive into when time permits, but I needed to finish some library books first. Ghost Wall, by Sarah Moss, was very short but neither quick nor easy. CW: DV, also violence

Congratulations!
I'm not sure of who recommended this, so, thank you, my unknown benefactor.
It's brilliant. You might set aside a bit of time to read (or re-read)

Just now learning of your health issues. Wishing you all good things and keeping my eyes open for ways to help. π π

This era has way too much on-the-nose irony happening all the time.

Truly hope you get to feeling better soon π
Finished The Lost Bookshop for one of my book groups. It could have been great, but I never warmed up to anyone. Now, reading The Nightingale, by Kristin Hannah, for the other book group. So far, I'm not loving it either. I think it's all rather triggering, sensing implications of current events.
Earlier today my Instagram account sent messages on the "meta" messenger app to random people, consisting of a bluesky account that I don't follow and have now blocked. It may have been a link to a post they put up here. I don't know how the people were chosen and I don't know what caused it.
Grrrr

I just read that you can dry clean your woolies by laying them out in the snow. Bonus for doing this on St. Brigids Eve - she will bless a scarf for you
