will remember jay as the person who deleted lexi alexander and link, worked hard to cut palestinians off from their one chance at survival, ignored the ongoing abuse of Black and trans users, and then when confronted about the whole thing said 'waffles'. and for that fugly no caesars shirt.

It is really weird to me when people don’t like reading and books.
I get not having enough time to read. I get wanting to read more, but there are just too many distractions around you. Obviously, I get having disabilities that make it difficult to read.
But just not liking books? Who are you?

But the areas so derived are half the values provided by the function (because the sectors are just triangles with unit height, from a calc perspective). Sure, proportional, but not "same as".
Mild chagrin, since I used the inscribed angle theorem to make it work with half sized circles.

Do I want to know?

Things that make me mad as a teacher are things that mathematical dead ends that we have to teach because they make you practice a different skill.

Pedagogically, I think it's the first time we take a known pattern, modify something to match it, and then solve the problem from there. At least at that level of abstraction.
It's a skill that gets used a lot later (hello boundary values), but it needs to be introduced sometime.

I can't believe I've had that for years with a screwed up arctan.
Here's a corrected version:

The place I've really seen it used is in calc where you use it to rewrite some factorable quadratics into usable things that integrate nicely.
It's also good for understanding the why, rather than just the what.

There is a right triangle with a fixed length hypotenuse formed by the big square lining up with the four stacked smaller squares. By Thale's theorem, that screams circle to me.

I do love that the arctrig functions do translate to actual arc lengths, though.

I've long argued that the inverse of f(x) should be arcf(x).
No idea why I can't get it to gain traction. The fact that it's etymologically incorrect has nothing to do with it, I'm sure.

You make a triangle out of the three points and find its circumcenter from the perpendicular bisectors of its sides. (the perpendicular bisector of a chord passes through the center of the circle, so we treat each side of the triangle as a chord)

The music trends of the future aren't going to come from Spotify or its ilk. It's always found by the people that have to search it out, who go to small clubs or find others who are also looking, or god forbid when they can't find it anywhere pick up an instrument and start making it themselves.
