Damn it, Deadlock is consuming my hyperfixation.

I need all artists to know that using 3D models in your art is not cheating. Those free-to-use 3D models are literally there to make your life easier. Stop being so hard on yourself and just trace that 3D object. You don't need to be able to perfectly draw every object ever from memory!!

If you form connections with those prone to drama, you will become consumed by drama. Identifying and avoiding behavioral indicators of people hooked on stupid Internet beef is a key skill for fostering a fun community.

Oh yeah, definitely alpha. A game that doesn't even tell you the conditions for victory is in pretty early shape. There's also to date no plot or character stuff beyond designs. Makes for a very bare bones experience right now. But the core loop is good.

RNG tweaking between expectation and reality is really interesting from both game design and psychological POV's.

I won't be streaming it soon (I have several others game, like Hytale, that are more important), but when I do I will focus on a thought experiment of what the tutorial will need to have for the game to be playable. I think that will be fun.

That said, thanks to the company I was in, I was eventually able to have some fun after a few hours of bumping into bugs and pressing buttons cluelessly. The gameplay loop itself is pretty solid. And the PvE bot mode is genuinely enjoyable.

If you are new to MOBA's, the learning curve on this game is basically a sheer cliffside. You can (eventually) have some fun if someone walks you through it and tells you the extensive undocumented features. Presumably Valve knows this and will get a good tutorial area ready before opening more.

If you're wondering in what kind of rough alpha the game is in right now? It does not even tell you how to win a match yet. Nor does it even explain the basic stats of the characters or how special NPC's function. None of the necessary basic game info is present. Just the loop and graphics.

Played #Deadlock offline. There was someone in the group with a decade's worth of MOBA experience. And thank goodness, because that's about what you need currently for the game to make sense. Ran into several glitchy menus and the tutorial is nearly worthless. However, it plays well and looks good.

Bsky is defaulting to WEBP for saving images now for me. Is it doing that for anyone else?

True. But if they include it as part of a larger copyrighted work, it wouldn't be public domain. My understanding is that only works that are entirely GenAI with no human editing are public domain, like that children's book someone tried to copyright. Slap a filter on it and the PD part goes away.

Note that I am not predicting this with a happy or cheerful tone.

Based on where GenAI video production is currently, a prediction: Netflix will push it heavily for SFX soon, if they aren't already.

Why? While GenAI shots fail under close scrutiny, Netflix appeals to a "second screen" audience. They aren't watching closely, so they won't notice.

A person is never the villain of their own story. They always have a rationalization for it.

Now, a person suffering the consequences of their mistakes and that being the reason they fail? That's fine. It just needs to be plausible and tie into the setup. Not a random event.

Youtube and Kick are comparatively better platforms in this regard. I have noticed that both of those still count human lurkers, so their CVC numbers are far more accurate than Twitch.

As always, multi-stream to Twitch, YouTube, and Kick if possible. There is no ethical difference between them.

I think we are forced to conclude that Twitch no longer counts lurkers not to "crack down" on viewbotting, but to punish those who don't.

By only counting a few active human chatters while allowing all viewbots to count, Twitch is deliberately favoring an artificial environment.
