I have the memory of a sieve. It's why I volunteered to paint custom badges (on wood with magnet backings!) for one of my local orgs, because only then will I permanently attach a name to a face.
(I am, honestly, v happy to do these for literally anyone who asks. I can put pronouns on them too!)

Post WorldCon, my husband & I took a cruise up to Alaska and back for our 20th anniversary. I did a little painting on the boat:
InkFoundry is a website dedicated to curating short fiction. I highly recommend it as a place to browse for new reads. :) I know the site owner, and she's constantly looking for new ways to improve it. Each piece added to the database is tagged for content: inkfoundry.net
There were also some lovely iridescent beetles (beetles of all kinds really), a plethora of stick bugs, many spiders and tarantulas, and big katydids and related critters, and African millipedes!
We're in Victoria, BC today and went to the Bug Zoo, so of course I thought of @seananmcguire.bsky.social . This mantis' name is Caitlyn. It's a Hierodula membranacea or a giant Asian mantis. There were a couple others but this one posed the nicest.

A 12x15 foot red flagstone patio, wet, with dark gray beach pebbles in the larger cracks. A man (my spouse) in a dark T-shirt is off to the right, arms spread indicating the gloriousness of the almost finished patio.
Freshly built and filled raised garden beds, on the other side of the sliding door from the new patio, containing baby plants that will hopefully grow well and produce lots of tasty fruits and veggies.
I am very tired but a lot of work is about to pay off. Last summer I dug out every last bit of gravel out of the borders of my yard. This year I dug, laid, & arranged a jigsaw puzzle of a flagstone patio.
As soon as I have 2 days without rain, I put in the polymeric sand & it'll be done.

I'm still a very early career writer, as all things go. My application acceptance to panel at WorldCon did feel like an honor and an accomplishment.
But now all this AI "vetting" has utterly tainted my joy. I'm left wondering if I really earned it at all :/
