Matty Sheldrick, a 29 year old autistic person, died on 22 November 2022 after ligaturing outside the Royal Sussex County Hospital 17 days earlier. They had left A&E less than two hours before. Now an inquest has found that a number of issues contributed to Matty’s death - very sad and avoidable

CCTV shows pupils abused and locked in padded room - BBC News Police have said staff will not face action over abuse of autistic children shown in videos leaked to the BBC.

Hard watching this on BBC news. Would an increase in the availability of learning disability nurses reduce the amount of times tragic stories are hitting the news? How many times do we need to see the same abuse before we seriously consider the skills in the workforce www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

We need learning disability nurses everywhere however we know this is an unrealstic wish. With less and less uptake to our field of practice we could be facing more and more of these tragic stories! So sad.
