Lalla found herself pulling a face that was entirely new to her. “So you think it’s good that people are poor?” “Not what I said,” Victor responded quickly. “So you agree that people being poor is a bad thing?” “Also not what I said.” Lalla glanced at Victor, and then down at her tablet. This was feralism, right? This seemed like feralism. She’d never spoken with an actual feralist before, and she really needed some pointers. She quickly scrolled to a section labelled “Common feralist arguments, refutation of.” There was a lot of text covering human ideas about freedom and independence, but nothing she could immediately find about what to do when a human argued that bad things weren’t bad. She decided to just skip ahead a little in her explanation.

A frustration I often have with HDG is that many stories, even really good ones, seem to struggle with the transition from "Affini and human with an interesting dynamic" and "Affini and their floret". Often the decision just doesn't feel organic.

HDG, in addition to being the horny plant setting, is also an abbreviation commonly used in aviation, so the HDG feed has a bunch of posts from the ACARS Drama bot. And I guess I could just mute it, but I dunno, there's something kind of nice about seeing all the low-stakes aeroplane goings-on
